Folks,

Who sells military and/or dive watches that are reasonable and has good customer service?

Recommendations?

I would like to know of a trusted online store which also has good prices ...if any such beast exists?

The above mentioned Countycomm.com and I've also bought from Howard at Westcoastime.com. Both are reputable sites and Countycomm is where I bought my T-SAR from .

just a hint.....if you're looking for a watch that can take a bit of a beating, and not look like complete crap very quickly, I would suggest not settling for anything other than sapphire crystal when it come to the glass.....the body/case of the watch will always get scratched up, but the sapphire crystal can supposedly only be scratched by other sapphire or diamonds.....even taking a knife to it, will theoretically not scratch it....

of course its a bit more pricey too....but not that bad...

You won't beat this....it's got the bomb proof and accurate automatic movement made by Citizen (correct me if I'm wrong), has a great/durable rubber strap, has an exhibition back so you can enjoy your movement, is screw down crown, has glowing hands/numbers, 660ft waterproof, has the date complication and on top of it all is $105 bucks to your door!!!! YOWZA!! You won't beat it, trust me. Every bit as good as the Seiko dive watches. I guess you could call it the brother movement. I've got a Seiko Automatic and one of these and they're equally accurate, run equally well and are equally tough. You'll love this watch.

There are several online stores that have a good reputation, are trusted and have good prices. Perhaps if you could give us an idea of the price range you're looking for it would be helpful. "Reasonable" to one person might be $75 while it might be $500 to another.

XD45 mentioned WestCoastTime and to be honest I've seen mixed reviews. I don't know anyone who has had a problem with Howard but apparently some people have. Having said that I wouldn't hesitate to order from him based on the feedback from people I know. Chronograph.com has good prices on Seiko watches and a very good reputation, though they are based out of the US. They also sell other brands though I've not compared the prices on those. Another good source for Seikos is Wayne's Watch World. MWR has excellent service though he doesn't seem to carry any lower priced watches anymore. If you want a real military watch the PX there might be a good place to look.

While an Invicta is a decent watch I wouldn't put it anywhere near the quality of a Seiko diver. I think the Seiko divers are the absolute best buy in the watch world. They're tough, dependable and there are several people that customize them if you want to have something different.

+1 for sapphire crystal, I'll never buy anything other than sapphire. I've hit my gsar against stuff at work (by accident) not a mark on it.

I also like sapphire crystals but let's not over rate the things. There are advantages to a mineral or acylic cystal such as impact resistance and cost. A good mineral or acrylic crystal can take more of a sharp blow without shattering than a sapphire one. And then should you need to replace a scratched up mineral crystal the cost won't make you pucker up like a sapphire model and finally an acrylic crystal can be polished out providing that the scratches are not too serious.

I've always had GREAT luck dealing with the used market on sites like Seiko-Citizen watch forum, Poor Man's Watch Forum, and Watchuseek. Just got a titanium Citizen Ecozilla on the last one, actually, for $135 shipped! Yep, I'm a happy camper, considering this thing retails for at least 4 times that much. I'm sure there are scammers on those sites, but after buying 6 watches in the past year and selling two on these sites I have yet to have a problem.

Good point on the impact resistance..But then again Marathon's crystals are very thick 2.8mm so I'm not to fearful of breaking it. I'm just stating that having owned previous watches, and seen what my work environment does to the crystal compared to the sapphire, I won't be going back. Also from what I've read replacing a sapphire crystal isn't all that much, as opposed to the premium charged by the manufacturers for a watch with this feature.

I'm actually going to attempt the toothpaste method of scratch removal on some of my older watches today.

It seems that Marathon watches are stout, but cost as much as a remington 700?

Who has 'em.

If you mean, who here owns one? I have this GSAR:

It is a tank of a watch, but I don't find it overly large. Countycomm is an authorized dealer. The automatics go for around 700$, and the battery powered are around 400$, I think. I've worn mine everyday for the last 5 months or so and haven't found a thing to complain about. The tritium on these watches is nice, it glows about as brightly as my trijicon pistol sights.

If that doesn't work try Brasso.

CountyComm and the MWR link I provided both sell them. For the money I don't think you can beat a Seiko diver, either the SKX007/009/etc series or the Monster. Personally I'd take those over a Marathon any day even if they cost the same.

If there are as honest sellers as here on BF they would be a good source to obtain a good deal. Thanks for the reference!
