Hey all. I'm an archaeologist by trade, so, goes without saying that I like antiques. While most of my collection are more modern flippers, I'd like to get into collecting antique or reproductions of historical knives. Specifically, 1800s frontier knives as well as WWI field knives (two areas I research extensively.) If anyone has any recommendations to get started, that would be very appreciated.

For great info re mil issue knives, swords, and bayonets, google "Gary Cunningham Bayonet Points", "Bill Porter Porter's Report", "Carter Rila Carter's Cutlery Commentaries", or "Frank Trzaska Knife Knotes"

Thanks much! I'll look into these sources.

I don't know if nned any more books on the subject, but if you don't own Bernard Levine's Guide to Knives and Their Values (4th ed or earlier), you should. Its a treasure trove of information on those types of knives.

Try looking up knife world publication.
the out of print section probably has material of your interest.
