South American Generals

Since I'm new here, I want to say that I've enjoyed myself immensely and everyone has been very helpful. Only one disagreement but that is now forgotten and no red chicklets given. RC not my style.

So a BIG THANK YOU to everybody and my best wishes for each of you Generals.

If you can't tell someone what you think face to face, post to post, what possible satisfaction is an annon red square going to give?

Might was well break the windows in their home, slash their tires, make annon phone calls, spread malicious gossip, etc etc.


I think Green Ice is on the right track- stay green.

I'm shocked you have one already. I've been calling them cacti, and when you give someone a plus, you've just watered the plant. Others call them squares, and others chiclets, a name I don't like at all. Many of us here just figured them out- other places on bladeforums have known about them longer. I did check out Pirates Cove and Josh is right- there are many South American generals and dictators running around there.


The computer program must give you points for being registered for nearly three years, Ibear, if not for amount of posts. Check out your user CP- you'll see who has given you water for the cactus.

Y'know. I would really like to contribute to this thread, and the tyranny of the green square thread, but I'm dry for material. Sort of like writer's block.
Hmm, need to go get some chewing gum or peyote or something..
 
We are truly living high on the cactus hog, so to speak.

I'm still in my 24-hour cool down period. Hopefully, in an hour or two, I'll be able to make my rounds again.

Edit: and it seems like I have to spread some rep around before hooking up just about everyone here.

Ah, the hell with it, I'm going to go nuke the Spyderco forum. I don't own a Spyderco but I might someday. Maybe my green will be good enough for this forum tomorrow. :)

Edit again: what was I thinking? There are still single cactus people here. By Job, I will do my best to correct this.

That, and the Spyderco forum wasn't really floating my boat.

Someone (Pendentive?) said that they were gifts from someone without enough mojo to give you a BUMP up. Someone like myself. Or Burafan.

That's right. It is a green one that didn't have as much power as you, the reciepient.:D

And Heavens to Murgatroid Aardvark now has two cacti after I gave him a boost up.:D :cool: :D
 
And now Howard is sporting double cacti! I really like being able to do that just when the points are ready to jump over to another cactus.:D :cool: :D
 
So I am curious, lets try an experiment... Is it possible to acquire so many negative votes that a forumite can display only red squares? No green ones, just red?

As the official HI Forum Troll in residency, I'm the perfect guinea pig :D Since only one green square appears below my total post count, this should be easy to test.

Need a little motivation -yes? Have at it you incontinent, feminist, left wing, dull bent butter knife carrying b!tc#3$ :eek: BTC season is open :p:p:p
 
LOL! Yeah, there are a few forumites around (though not around here that I've seen) that have dipped into the red. One person in particular who seems to be universally disliked has two red boxes. You have to get enough reds to knock your number of rep points below zero- it'll take several neg rep points (dead cacti? 2,4-d? rat poison?) to get you into the red, Bill. And I'll send you some green to make it even more difficult. :p :D

Unsigned negative rep points bug me as well. The same day that I made a somewhat short-tempered post in Whine and Cheese and handed out my first and only negative rep (which I signed), someone anonymously dinged me for a post in the W&C thread because... my avatar is "gross!" Seemed like suspicious timing, and doubly passive-aggressive, but because it was unsigned I'll never know for sure.

From what I understand, one of the benefits of a Platinum membership is that you can see the source of all your rep points, regardless of whether they were signed or not.

A couple of the Pirates have gotten into light-green box territory. A different, rarer species of cactus, requiring much more light to grow. :rolleyes: (bad joke).

It's quite possible. You can sport a full row of 11 red boxes.
 
I know a fella on another forum who has 3 red boxes and is working on #4. He is a living breathing human hemmorhoid though.
