South Carolina carry laws

I know this is an old thread, but I'm going on vacation with my girlfriend's family this week to Charleston and this thread has been extremely helpful. I was going to bring my Chokwe, but now that I'm aware of Charleston's (ridiculous) 3" law I'll carry my Native 5 Ti and a traditional.

What a pointless restriction, right?

Still, thanks to BladeForums once again for providing invaluable education.

lived down there for 3 or 4 years downtown. Basically, it is only enforced if you look suspect or brandishing it. I was using a PM2 or yo2 often to cut cigars and stuff on east bay (CharlestonTowne Tobacco and wine is nice) beyond that, tourist have priority over locals so your safe as long as u dont act suspect or do something illegal.

Sc law is no limit, city law is just mainly to catch locals and trouble makers. Dont dress suspect and you'll be fine. I sold knives free lance down there to pay for my college and never got stopped but 1x when I literally was covered in blood wearing a ski mask (hunting boar an hour north) just act like a tourist and enjoy the city. Sc is fairly lax in knife laws with only municipal laws holding restrictions which are rarely enforced unless the cop feels so inclined. If your visibly Latin or black in Charleston though, obey the 3inch rule of thumb (half colombian but i look white)

The link on the previous page read "concealed" ice pick or knife blade more than three inches.
So, my guess is that a longer-bladed folder, with a pocket clip, would not be considered "concealed."
