Being a left handed person leaves me to doing some risky unsheathing and blade transfer between hands of a typical right handed carry setup.

My question to the forum: "Is it possible request a left handed scabbard with a HI purchase?"

Note: One to be worn on the right hip properly for us lefties - allowing one efficient draw with the left hand.

Any other 'South Paws' dealing with this issue??

I pulled the body of the sheath out of the loop it rides in and reversed it. The only issue I see is cosmetic with the seam of the sheath facing outwards. I may be totally wrong since I am a noob but I'm sure the senior members will be able to help with any correction.

That's what I did, just flipped the scabbard in the frog. The seam is on the outside and the karda/ chakma are on the outside but it works. I never asked about getting a proper lefty from the sarki shop.

I bought an HI Khukri a couple weeks ago off Ebay and when oi put it on my belt I wondered "why does it feel odd" when i reached for it i realized it was made left handed - so i called my left handed brother and said "i got a nice birthday present; made just for you" so my answer is yes they do makes them. or they did at one time.

My other answer is look up Chuddybear leather .com the sheath he made me is fantastic and didn't cost an arm and a leg - he is on the forum and was well recomended. I just had to wait a few weeks because he is back logged and doesn't rush your new sheath which i admire (he is not just in it for a dollar)

after reading the other posts i went and looked at it thinking maybe that's what was done -- but the way it is bent is for carry on left side or cross draw with left hand - with the Chakra and charma on the inside edge

it must have been made that way

Honestly, I wanted to buy a H.I. BirGorkha Kothimoda with the silversmith sheath in a left handed version - it is so beautiful, I wouldn't want to flip it around and hide its beauty from the world.

It's been hard to talk myself out of this...so I'm on the fence waiting for a "yes, we can do that" from H.I. and then I'll special order it in a true left hand scabbard.

Vision...it reaches beyond the thing that is, into the conception of what can be possible.

I had the same predicament..... so I've ordered a left-hand scabard for my second CAK ;)

Just waiting for it to turn up......:p

I'd love to get the kothimoda for my dad, since he lives in canada shipping won't be too bad..... might wait till June when i get the dollars together :D

So FuriousFist where did you order the LH scabbard from?
TIA and don't forget to post pics when you get it.

It's quite possible to carry on your left hip with a righty scabbard, and draw left-handed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94c88HfACfQ Really makes quite a lot of sense, considering all of his points. And the curve on most khukuris doesn't really make it any more difficult compared to a straight sword.

never had a problem with mine, just tied some leather strips around the sheath and hooked a carabiner through that and its worked wonders for me

I'm a lefty, but I have become accustomed to carrying belt knives on my right side due to the dearth of left handed sheaths. I even kind of like it, as they tend to be more out of the way when I am for performing tasks outdoors.
