IMHO this is like asking which is better a Mercedes or a BMW. They are similar in a few ways but for the most part are on completely different ends of the spectrum as far as features. If you like bearing operated flippers then obviously your choice is going to be the southard. As far as fit and finish as well as quality control? I would say they are both on par with each other. The CRK is most definitely going to have tighter tolerances as they are very very finicky about that over there. But i havent met a single human that has micrometers for hands so the differences in a real world working environment is going to be negligible. Ive had sebbies and the southard. The only one of those I still own is the southard. But bearing flippers are my thing man, and if CRK made one id own it. Either way i dont think you can go wrong with either knife. It really comes down to what features you prefer. Some people are just gonzo for the sebbie. And if thats your thing, I aint gonna knock it. People like what they like. But I would say the southard has a better value out of the gate even if the CRK has a better return on your investement if you decide you dont like it. But that even tends to fluctuate. I remember I traded into a large sebbie and I swear it seemed as If I couldnt give it away. And yes, it was real.
