Anyone feel like doing a backpacking trip in southern ca? I was going to Lytle Creek off the 210 and 15 fwy. or Bear Canyon in the Angeles National Forest. I will be going the week of May 17-18 works better! . It will be an overnight trip if anyone is interested.

Lytle Creek has a running creek all year, water falls peaks and solitude. Rugged as they get.

Bear Canyon has busier trails and not any solitude, no real place to practice skills but the trails are nicer.

That sounds like fun, but that's Mother's Day weekend. A wife, mother and two grandmother's trumps me running around in the woods.

I was doing Mt Whitney in july and like the first couple of camps on the way to the peak. I think thats near Lone Pine.

yea its not too far from there.. but im out of shape for it... Most of the reason i keep going is cause im too stuborn to stop lol.. I want to hit the rocky basin lakes its about one day of hard walking or a day and a half of more fun walking.
this pic is from the cottom wood pass the lakes are two montains over that meadow

hey mike it dont take much to get ready. Bring some food, a warm place to sleep. oh yea bring a kitchen knife so we could cut something.

That part is easy..... I don't get the screws out of my leg till next week, then its a few weeks of physical rehab. Maybe by mid sumer I'll be ready. I never unpack my camp gear its always ready to go.

Well we can always make more then one trip if you ask me.. Does anyone know how cold it might be in the high sierra??? Lets make this trip a go ahead and set up something for later on with enough heads up to get guys show up..

Tknife thats area is one of the best places for a backpacking trip i love to get water that is pouring out of some rocks its so clean and cold... Lots of areas to set up camp.. Would be a good place to get a larger group togher. The ones that never been to that area would love it the drive up there the view from the top of the mountains is breath taken..
