I love my Bad Monkey. Fit and finish is outstanding and it is a very tough work blade. Also, their customer service is excellent as well. I sent mine in to have the lockbar carbodized and asked about the jade green scales. They did the lockbar, sharpened the blade, put all new hardware on it and threw the scales on the knife for $20. Pretty sweet.
What was the problem with your lockbar?
I love my Monkeys! I have one Spider and 2 Bad. I carry the Bad in satin the most and it sees a good bit of use, probably my most used blade. The Spider Monkey is my dress/gentleman carry knife. I have been nothing but impressed with everyone I have talked to at Southern Grind and I recommend everyone at least give them a try.
I don't have a Southern Grind with cerakote, but if it's done properly it's pretty tough stuff. It gets some wear marks from kydex but as long as there's no grit it holds up pretty well. Does depend on the attention to detail of the guy doing it. The shop that does my 'hawks is very good. How resilient is the black coating to scuffing/scratches?
