Hey everyone,

Relatively new here. Been looking pretty hard at southern grind folders lately. Really struggling with whether to bite the bullet and go for the bigger bad monkey or the smaller more edc friendly spider monkey. Also, is the blade steel really that big of a deal on the bad monkey? Any input you guys have would be great.

Merry CHRISTMAS

I don't own one yet, but handling them at the blade show I prefer the smaller one.

I prefer the Bad Monkey to the Spider Monkey but we sell the Spider Monkey almost 2 to 1 over the Bad Monkey. They are very well made knives with great finish and materials. The biggest complaint about the steel on the Bad Monkey is most people don't think the steel is high end enough to reflect the price tag on it. I personally have carried and used my Bad Monkey a ton and have been very very impressed with how well it holds an edge and how well I can personally sharpen it. For all the Bad Monkeys we have sold I can not remember 1 complaint ever about the steel on them.

A pic of the size difference to help in your decision:

If you want pics compared to something you own beside both I am happy to do it if it is a knife we sell. Just let me know.

I bought a spider monkey at bladeshow this year and it has dominated my pocket since. As stated previously, the fit and finish is excellent. The spider monkey is the smaller of the two, but it's supported with higher quality materials.

I love my spider monkey, it is the perfect size for me. It is one of my regularly carried edc's. I don't have a bad monkey, but I really don't have any use for anything bigger than the spider. You wont go wrong with either, your choice will depend on your intended use.
