I received a package in the mail today from Mr Woodrow F Call. Inside was a yellow Case Sodbuster in CV! I love true working patterns and like the Sodbuster style a lot. Like all the Case knives I’ve had so far, fit and finish couldn’t be better, the blade is nicely centred and the edge is shaving sharp. I can barely wait to use this knife and just know we’re going to become firm friends. Also in the package, along with a kind handwritten note, was some ‘Louisiana table salt’, which I’m also looking forward to trying :)

Many thanks for your kindness Woodrow, I’m deeply touched :)

Jack

You're welcome. I had read where Jack Black didn't have a single Sod Buster and I felt he needed one. :o A couple of days after I sent the package, his thread where his girlfriend got him a few Sod Busters appeared. :o At least she didn't get him the same one I did. :D

Enjoy the knife and the Tony's!

BTW, it was getting close to a month since I sent it before you got it. Man overseas is slow!

Reading of such thoughtfulness is simply inspiring.

A tasty looking treat that's for sure....

....and a perfect gift for our well seasoned friend!

:D

Tony C's and Franks's Red Hot have gotten me through many less than savory meals in the field. Everyone should have a sodie and a jar of Tony's in their truck!

Great looking knife. The generosity of the members in this sub-forum is amazing

Good knife!

Another traditional generosity at work. But Woodrow, I always thought spice in Louisiana was a bottle of Tabasco!:D

Carl.

That was such a kind thought Woodrow. I'm sorry about those stainless soddies kind of getting in the way (my girlfriend didn't actually realise they were the same pattern), it must have been quite disheartening. They're not a patch on this Case CV though, which I can see becoming a real favourite. And it's my first yeller! Thanks again my friend :)

The long postal delays are very frustrating, and it's the same both ways. You pay for 'Air Mail', and then they send it by wounded carrier-pigeon or something :(

It looks like you sent me TWO American institutions! I'm very much looking forward to trying the Tony's :)

Well, that's not spice, that's hot sauce! It comes in three flavors in Louisiana (in order from hottest to least hot): Tobasco, Louisiana, and Crystal. The ingredients are: cayenne pepper and vinegar.

You generally find Tony's and at least one of the three varieties of hot sauce on the tables of Louisiana.

We always have a big container of TC but lately we have been migrating towards Slap Yo Mama made in Ville Platte, LA. I must say I just used the TC on my lunch.

Very nice Gesture my LA friend.

You're very welcome.

Wounded carrier-pigeon? That's funny. I bought my Black SAK Farmer off Ebay.it and it took about a month to get here.

Tony's is good stuff. You can find it in most states I think, but down here, you can find it stocked in the gas stations! Which is actually where I picked that particular can up. :p I'm not originally from Louisiana, but one thing they have covered is good eating. Maybe not good for you, but good.

I have not had any, but I have been seeing it pop up more and more. I should try it out sometime. Maybe I'll grill some burgers this weekend and try it out.

Louisiana cuisine is internationally respected :) I've got a couple of Louisiana cook books, and you can buy Tabasco in the gas stations HERE! :D

BTW, been getting good crawfish? Went to a boil this last weekend. First batch was great, the second had some big ones and was even better. Best batch I've had this season. Even had to use the SAK to open up a 30lb bag. ;)

That´s a great knife. I´ve used mine pretty much and hard and it gets better with every time I use it.

You´ll be happy with that knife.

Great gesture, Woodraw :)

That sounds awfully good. Last time we went home we had hit 3 restaurants in the first few hours to get all of our favorites. My wife is from New Iberia and is 100% Cajun. I am an old redneck from Spring Creek / Kentwood area. Dairy Farm country back in the day.

Is there anyone from New Iberia that isn't 100% Cajun? Before I moved down here, I worked for a company that had a plant in New Iberia. I went down there to help out with some issues and had to go to the local electrical supply shop and there was a cute little girl working behind the counter, but when she opened her mouth my jaw dropped as she sounded just about like the coach from Water Boy! I did have some good Boudin from the gas station though. :D
