Here is a Southwest style bowie. The handle is George Washington planted Horse Chestnut, he planted it for the Georgia colong.
The mountings are stainless. The engraving is like all of my engraving, I hand draw each leaf or scroll. I do not use computer generated anything.

If any of you want to take a red marker to it go ahead. I am always up to learn how to improve my work from those that can show me and most people that walks upright can show me how to do things better that what I do. That is what I like about this industry there is no end to what I can learn how to improve myself.

It's beautiful Jerry. The black background in the lower right guard detail actually looks like a piercing in that image. What's the steel?

Mark, it is a Trail of Tears pattern. I thought that would work well with the George Washington wood as I am sure he would shed a tear or two.

Beautiful piece.........unmistakably Fisk.....dosen't need anything changed...!

beautiful Bowie and amazing detail. That Horse Chestnut has more character than I imagined. Always thought Chestnut was a plain/straight grained wood, but that piece is cool.

I like simple, so in my eye there are too many patterns w/o a unity that I can see. A single color handle and a simpler engraving would be more to my taste. That being said, my taste runs counter to the current market, which this piece fits to a T. Excellent.

Love the blade shape and everything else about this.
It's great that the "old school abs style handle" can still find appreciation here when so many want to see the highly sculpted handles that are popular now.
What is the blade length......looks to be 11" or better?

Thanks,
Darcy:)

A work of art

Just a wonderful piece showcasing a very interesting piece of wood

Great Stuff Jerry

Beautiful, I like everything about it.
I particularly like the long sleek blade.
The steel pattern and engraving really complement one another.

Amazing, incredible..what everyone said and so much more so, as the handle wood deserves.
Also, it may just be the image but does this have more of a hooked or curved talon like clip
than some of your other Southwests ?
Thanks.
A truly stunning Masterwork, Jerry !

Doug

Doug, no, it is t he same. I have a block that I use to set all of the clips. This one is ground with a chisel grind clip, set up for a right handed person. That may be what you are seeing, I bit wider with the sweep of the clip of that grind. I can or did when I was a bit younger, cut one inch rope with a back cut of the chisel ground clip, I could never cut as well with the center ground one. This is on my knives, your mileage may vary. The draw back of a chisel ground clip or secondary edge is that it is set up right or left handed and does not do as well in the off hand. Trade offs, all trade offs.

Jerry, that is a very nice knife. My favorite thing was the creative approach to laddering the steel.

If you have a better pics of the guard, larger and from a couple of angles, please post. I want to see the faces and the side better. Obviously, this is a friendly request. I think it looks very good, and I want to see it better. Maybe learn a little (except I will never engrave well, especially with very small images or script).

take care,
Keviii
