At Mamav's house in Mesa, AZ. We'll start the day with coffee at 0700 and cinnamon rolls at 0800. So come early if you want to watch me abuse my dough :D Lunch will be chicken and noodles(with homemade noodles...yum) and dinner will be Yvsa's green chili and Tex-Mex chili verde. I'll have plenty of H2O and you can bring your own soda's and beer. Probably be wise to keep the harder stuff for after the pointy things are put away, I don't want to have to rush anyone to the corner facilities.

OK there's the menu now you guys come up with the schedule of activities. Rio Jim said he'd bring his sharpening stuff if he can still make it.....anyone else???? I'll try to keep a running count on attendees here, so let me know.

Email me for directions and stuff like that. And yes I can pick up at the airport and if you are an aviator yourself there are 2 smaller airports close by, Falcon Field and Williams Gateway(although I'm not positive on private fly-ins there.) Someone else might know that.

Current attendees:

Yvsa
yiterp
Svashtar?
Nasty
Death Dancer

Gin I love your enthusiasm but I think you may be going overboard.
I can see you're willing but I think that's an awful lot for you to take on and still participate.
I would suggest coffee and cinnamon rolls around 9:00 or 9:30 if that's all right and then a lunch/dinner later in the afternoon.
If somebody gets hungry there could be some boloney and cheese and crackers on hand that would suffice and let us fend for ourselves.;)
But there may be some that can get there that early and more power to y'all if you want to do that.
Myself, I can't get too moving until around 9:00 or so.:grumpy:  ;)

Edit:
And you need to put a kitty bowl or basket out so people can donate to offset the cost of food and the like. You are not going too foot the bill all by yourself! :p

sounds great to me--i will help you out and bring whatever you might need--e-mail me with directions to you place  :)

Actually Yvsa, this is my specialty. This won't be difficult at all, but I am open to times, knowing people have to travel and all. Those who can come early, come and we'll make sure we have all the important gossip about the late comers talked about before they get here  :p ;)

When's the Annual International Khukuriathon? Or is it now called KukriFest?

Seriously though, the Southwest Khuk Knut Gathering sounds like a great idea. Wish I lived closer (Boston). Maybe next year we can have one in the Northeast Kingdom somewhere, sometime.

Have a great time!

Is this just now getting organized, or has this been in the works for a while and I just missed it?

Just checked mapquest; 10 hours or so from Salinas. Hmmm. Closer than I thought! I'll see what I can do as far as time off is concerned.

It would be great to meet some of you in person, and the last convention was way too far for me.

Regards,

Norm

Too few events are in my neck of the woods. I got a scirocco gathering in june out of cincinnati, all the khuk gatherings in the south, and sword people in england, chicago, and seattle. Seattle is the easiest but there aren't many events worth the drive. However there is a sword gathering in portland that I can attend.

As for the SKKG, sounds fun (and tasty) but no way can I get to arizona.

Email me details Gin...I can try to get a day off and the scoop on my FF miles.

Yoippari - Don't tell me when you go to Cinci. I'm about 50 mies away from there and wouldn't want to be expected to come by for a beer.

If I remember correctly, a very good friend and I did the run from Portland, OR to San Diego, CA in 16 hours in a 1969 VW Bug on cheap gas and about four cases of Coca Cola. We would have done it in 14 hours but LA was a "bear " to get through!!

Of course, I was young, stupid and attending college in Portland at the time. :D

Gin, I think I need directions to your homestead. I should be there by way of Tucson!!

DD - BE CAREFUL! The last time I went anywhere by way of Tucson, I sort of got waylaid into Mexico and...

wait...what's the statute of limitations on...um...nevermind. See you there...maybe.

.

Raggie...you do know the drugstores there will write prescriptions on the spot, don't you? ;)

Nasty. 50 miles? The gathering is 50 miles north of cincy. If I do get there don't worry about dropping by for a beer. I'm not too sure how a big knife nut and little car nuts will get along.

I doubt I'll make it either. I am thinking of a july escape from Montana though.
