I think I got this right but looking for more info. I picked this up at a yard sale that the guy had at least 30 Buck fixed blades. I got there on the second day. I knew this sheath was older and the knife is rough. It will get a Spa treatment on monday. 2 fiber spacersand 2 aluminum spacers.

Swivel sheaths were made in 1972. I think the sheath and knife are correct for 1972. DM

From my research and what I have read, I'm pretty sure swivel sheaths started a few years later than '72. I think the sheath is a replacement. That said, did the 120 get a swivel sheath a few years before the 119?

I'm with TAH on this one. The swivel sheath is not original to the knife IMO.
I agree with David that there were swivel sheaths in 1972 but only for the 124.

How would anyone know it was a replacement sheath?

A few years ago, I extensively researched my late 70s 119 with a swivel sheath. In doing so, I must have looked at a hundred 119s and 120s on eBay. Every knife with a swivel sheath had a 3 line stamp (read with the point up) and three Micarta handle spacers. All of the 119s and 120s with inverted blade stamps and four Micarta spacers had a flap sheath.

Your knife and sheath might be correct, but I would be surprised.

Yes it is not a clean proof, but my inverted 120 three liner has a flap sheath too. It seems to be the correct sheath.

Real nice.

I wonder how a the sheatg can look so great when the knife is so rough ?

Maybe someone kept it in a pack because no sheath you wear on your belt enough to use your knife that much is gonna look that good.

Here are after pics. Knife is used but looks good. It's nice to see a user come back from Spa treatment.

I had a look in my drawer if I have a comparing sheath. But I couldn't find one.
I'll keep my eyes open.

Buck did a fine job on restoring your 120 - guess I need to send in my 105 and get it done. OH

That turned out great. That reminds me that I never sent in that old 119 I got off the "bay" a few years back. I really need to.
