Spa treatment for Micarta inlayed knives.

I got your email. For the price you sent me, I would pass too. Nothing wrong with using a knife, that's what they are for, but "abusing" is different.

Personally, for that price, I couldn't be happy with it. Everytime I pulled it out, and saw the damage, or even just knowing what had been done to it, it wouldn't be the enjoyable experience that it should be...

Thank you, I have learned so much from you guys in the short time I have been on here, and look forward to continuing to learn in the future!

You're welcome. There are many very knowledgeable members here, in all different areas... I am still a learning novice when it comes to CRK, but I always know that any questions I have, can easily be answered here.

To be honest I see little wrong with the handle, any knife you use will get marked up and that handle is not even in that bad a shape. The blade is in a bad way though and should probably just be replaced. It was a good idea to pass on that knife, IMO. If you really want a new looking knife get a new one. :)

I like buying used CRK's because that way I can save some $$$ and I like having them pre-broken in. In my experience, the action on a used CRK is smoother than on a new one. When I buy I used CRK I like sending it in to get a spa treatment and starting with a clean slate. I don't mind usage marks I put in myself. I don't know if that makes any sense to any one else but its just a personal preference. Thanks for the feedback, I am glad I passed on the knife. At first glance I thought the blade was something CRK could easily remedy, it is because of member responses as well as closer inspection that I realized the blade needed replacing.

Thanks again guys you really helped me out!

Nothing wrong with that at all, it makes perfect sense. They do come back from the spa looking nice and new. :)

Glad you passed on that one. For that 'used' one, I would have at most paid $250-275.

Yeah thats about the range I was looking at spending, but even then to be fully satisfied I would probably have to spring for a new blade so 275+135 (for blade)+15 (shipping to CRK) + 15 (return shipping)= $440 not worth it in the least bit. Oh well, glad I get to keep on hunting. Thats a good thing, because for me hunting is half the fun :)

Handles wouldn't have been a concern to me. That blade though ....

I'd have passed on that for sure. There are too many out there in better shape to worry about buying a project knife.
