Is there anything special I need to do to glue up a spacer material between the handle material and the blank?

I was thinking about drilling holes in it to provide a bridge between the blank and handle. Would this be a good idea?

The spacer usually will hold glue really well so other than cleaning no real prep is needed, you could put holes in if you want. I color my epoxy to match the spacer so there is no glue line.

The vulcanized liner material accepts the epoxy better than thin G10 material. I epoxy the liner to the scales and let it cure. Then I drill small holes all the way through the liners and a little into the scales before attaching to the knife blank just to be sure. Keep your drill away from the edges you will have funny little shapes in your handle that don't belong there. (don't ask me how I know)
