I picked up a pice of 2x6x6" about a month ago, cutting it on a biased angle, yielded 5 sets of scales.
I guess that should read "Tamarind".

I sell a lot of it at the shows. It has to be stabilized to use for knife handles. I usually stabilize the whole block and saw it up into scales or blocks after stabilization.

That's a pretty dang cool looking wood! What's your plans with it?

Just building up my inventory of handle materials.

I'm getting a box ready to ship to k&g, spalted tamarind, amboyna burl, thuya burl, curly maple, and kingwood, never thought about just sending the whole chunk!

Edited to add: I just checked my cherry burl, some of that is reading 6-8% MC, that is going also.
