SPAM on sale at Amazon

This is not Spam this is of interest to the Survival Forum. I do not work for Amazon.

It's nothing personal. I'm sure Cougar realizes that you don't work for Amazon, and are just trying to post about a good deal. The problem is that if everyone were allowed to start threads about knife bargains, the forums would:
a. be filled with threads about good knife deals.
b. have the mods spending most of thier time seperating the bargain spotting posts from the real spam posts.

That would be a problem because...? ;)

Why would this be a problem if we were allowed to start threads about knife bargains?

I visit several (non knife) forums that prohibit spam, even if on topic, for various reasons. Owners can do what they want with their forums, but I find these policies stupid and counterproductive.

Because if it were allowed there would be hundreds of deal-spotting posts in each forum per day. It would be difficult to find the discussion posts in that, and difficult to find funding for the costs of running a much larger forum, too (we come short of meeting expenses already....)

Some of the people reading this thread might find Petition to Forum Moderators... of interest. This thread is turning into a policy discussion thread, too; might as well move it to the appropriate forum.

This almost looks as if shecky is calling Spark Stupid, I see he really puts his money in the forums to support it. If you don't like the forums, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Just my two cents, I love the forum and respect all the Mods and Spark.

James

Ps: I got an infraction for deal spotting once and understood why and still do.
Among some of my first posts, but you shecky have 816?

It's pretty simple folks, it's Spark's house and the only sale signs allowed in the yard are HIS or those that paid to put them there.

I assume Spark is the owner? If so, I call his policy stupid and counterproductive, not him. But it's his playground, he makes the rules.

I guess so. Does it make a difference?

IMO, nearly every post on this forum is practically a deal spotting post already. I come here to find new stuff to buy. But hey, that's just me.

The difference is: Folks that sell here have PAID for the right to do so: Why don't you upgrade and support the site?

Small price to pay if you truly enjoy!

Regardless of what you find "stupid and counter productive" it's obvious you're not looking at it from Spark's viewpoint (ya know that guy that foots the bill at the end of the day.) Filtering through god knows how many post, sorting out the true deals, spammers (there would be a gaggle of them), and using up bandwith in a "DISCUSSION' forum, it would be a mess for the moderators. This isn't the home shopping network for the internet knife junkies.

Your view is short-sited at best.
