Quote from the description: "The quality of this knife is far above the current SOG line which is completely made in China with much lower quality materials and manufacturing."

This is contrary to what I know? I thought most of the blades are made in Japan. If I learn that SOGs are made in China, I will buy no more SOG blades. I was reading my "manual" for the Twitch II and it apparently is made in the USA.

I believe at the starting price ($175) he is asking, he may just keep it.

Auction Link TO SPAM.

Libelling SOG to hype an auction isn't very cool.

Rimfire's raised a very good point.

Even though it hasn't happened to SOG (like it has to BUCK Knives) staying competitive shouldn't mean selling out a company's standards to a communist regime.

I hate to say it, but communist China is going to prove Josef Stalin right. One day, they're going to hang us with the rope we sold them.

SOG knives are not made in China.

We do how ever make products under the Fusion name in China. You can be assured that all products labeled SOG are not produced in China. Also, for your information the SOG Tech was made in Japan and is actually the predecessor to the SEAL Knife which is still made in Japan in the same factory.

I hope this helps clear up some confusion on where so products are made.

Chris

No they're produced in Taiwan.

Bubba

I suggest you know your facts before making a blanket statement like that. Yes, we do produce some of our knives in Taiwan and they are marked accordingly. But, by no means is that all of our production or even the majority. The majority of our knives are still produced in Japan and the USA, using the same factories we have used for more the 20 years.

If you or anyone else has questions about where a particular knife is produced just ask and I would be happy to answer.

Thanks
Chris

Chris, I was hoping you would chime in. How hard would it be to make a list of the place of manufacture for the curent SOG line? It would be interesting to know if production of a particular blade has moved from one country to another resulting in a name change?

Taiwan isn't the same as China, Bubba.

Taiwan is a multi-party democracy.
China isn't.

Japan is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary government.
China isn't.

China is a communist state. "The State" in the terrible Soviet sense of the word.

For me, those differences are important. Would I like it if all the knives I like were made in USA? Sure. Competition in many industries, including production cutlery makes that unfeasible, unfortunately.

If it comes to that, I'd like to be able to buy a American-made TV set.

You can be assured that all products labeled SOG are not produced in China.

Those are the magic words, guys!!

P.S. Santa just left me a 10 point infraction because of my last post. Anybody have a clue why? Santa claims it's "auction spotting", but it's not my auction and I wasn't even the first person to point the auction out. I thought I'd ask the crew here before running off to the community center and probably scoring another 10 point infraction for asking. :(

Gentlebeings, advertising is not allowed on this forum. It doesn't matter if it's your own auction you're shilling or a friend's or a total stranger's, do not shill auctions here. This forum is supposed to be spam-free. If you see something on the net you consider such a bargain you can't resist posting about it you can go to The Good, The Bad, The Ugly and post about it, but everybody who's interested keeps an eye on ebay and they saw it before you did.
