Is the slit in the prototypes of such a size that you could open bottled pop or beer with it?

its easy to open a bottle without it. hold the neck in the left hand so that the cap is just proud of level with the top knuckle o fyour finger. Put the side of the knife, spoon, whatever under the cap and above knuckle and lever it off. The first one may seem painful, but once you get the knack its a half second job.

Tip, courtesy of Italian waiters I used to live with :D
 
When I lived in Italy, all the waiters carried the little stainless corkscrew/bottle openers in their aprons. Maybe it's regional, though, as everything is there!

Blinker, are all the knives approximate in size and shape? The photos on your site seem to show quite a bit of variation from knife to knife.
 
They are handmade customs so yes there are SLIGHT variations.
They were however made using only one master template piece. So all of the holes and dimensions are very close.

You will NEVER find water jet blanks come out of my shop.

No mill or other machined blades, all are done individiually and hand ground on my grinder.
