Sparklite failure...

Just wondered if anyone here had experienced anything like this with a new surplus Sparklite.

Hmmmm....I have quite a few of those. I will check them out. Wouldn't be good to have one, need it, and realize it won't work! Thanks for the head's up.

I buy the bags of surplus tinder tabs but I've never owned the sparking part.

Have several of them, including one all-metal bodied version. All OK, that one in your thread is a real stinker though.

Surplus from the military?

Fortunately I bought several of these when they first came out. They were made of brass not plastic.

i had a surplus one do that one me years ago when i was on a SAR team way back when....i was mad, and luckily had another source of fire starting.

i use only the new ones you can get in orange.....never had one of them fail me yet but i have worn 4 of them out...just from use.

Just a good reminder to actually go out and test them out. Use them. The Spark-Lite is a real niche firestarter, save your life if you break your arm, etc.
