I can't find any information about the pivot/washer/lock in the Spartan Akribis. Can anyone elaborate on how, exactly, they're designed?

I was able to examine an Akribis and the design is very cool. The steel is S35VN with a unique heat treat that makes it hold an edge and resist chipping like no other. The coated blade rides on phosphor bronze washers and is as smooth as a Sebenza. The lock is a crazy thick carburized titanium liner. The liner is easily as thick as many Ti framelocks but with a piece of G10 over it. The handle is designed to fit a human hand, and does so perfectly.

Some unique features of the Akribis include:

  • Carburized titanium lock interface to resist lock wear
  • Ramp for detent cut into lock face to ease transition of detent ball onto and off of the blade tang (extra cool!)
  • Solid backspacer and covered pivot for super clean appearance
  • PVD coating on all parts for extra-super corrosion resistance
  • Hinderer lockbar stabilizer hidden under G10 to prevent vertical movement of liner lock to resist lock wear
  • Cutting edge begins where grip ends
  • Blade tang fits the handle when closed, there are no corners sticking out anywhere
  • Ambidextrous design opens and closes easily with either hand
  • Incredible customer service dedicated to satisfying the end user

The Akribis is very similar to a large Sebenza, but without the "dead spot" between the end of the handle and the beginning of the cutting edge found on a Sebenza 21 or 25. The blade length is equal, but the Akribis is noticeably more versatile thanks to the longer grip. The Akribis' blade has a unique shape, with plenty of belly and a very acute tip. Thickness of the Akribis is similar to a micarta Sebenza, both carry easily in the pocket but the Akribis is much more handfilling and secure.
