Spartan Blades Harsey Folder

...
Based on my satisfaction with my two Spartan folders and fixed blades I’m certain I’ll buy another one in the future. ...

That was my experience. My path down that rabbit hole started with a Spartan-Harsey Model II and took flight from there. Went kind of nuts with the folders (they're too damned cool - can't resist) with 4 in the collection now (including one I bought ten minutes ago! :D ).

If they would have offered the SHF in a more appealing blade shape I would have bought one over the Sebenza....Ive heard nothing but praise over this knife and always been keeping an eye open for a used one in the sales area. If they ever made the SHT in a sheepsfoot Id be all over it!

When I picked up my Large 21 I was trying to decide between it and the Spartan Harsey. It is a great knife that is up there in quality with the Chris Reeve and other top of the line production knives. That said the one they had at my local store had lockup that was so dangerously early I imagine it was out of spec.

They also had a Metis folder in store with a lockbar stabilizor that was messed up. It was loose and rattling when I picked up and examined the metis and I informed the store owner. He brought a torx driver and tightened down that overtravel stop and now it was pushing on the lockbar making the folder very difficult to open. Turns out those were the only two settings, either loose and rattling or too tight that the action was compromised.

So that meant two out ofnthe three spartan folders I saw there had issues. (The third was a Pallas which was flawless) I understand this is totally out of character for Spartan but it made me kind of wary of their folders. That said I really like the Akribis and would love to own one.

Needless to say I picked the large 21. However every other Spartan knife I have see has been outstanding. Granted most of those are fixed blades but I understand they are a company with an excellent reputation. I would chalk it up to a strange fluke and say that one could buy folders from Spartan fully assured they will recieve an excellent knife.

The owners were taught by both Chris Reeve and Bill Harsey. Quality is there, customer service is also solid should you have an issue or question. The owners are nice guys to boot. It's an updated version of the lone wolf tactical folder handle pattern from back in the day.

I know mine doesn’t do that. I know the guys who own the store pretty well. (I gave them plenty of business) it was just a weird fluke.

I just don't care for all metal handled knives, if they had one with G10 on 1 side and titanium frame lock on the other then I would be excited bout that.

Opinions?

Just got mine in today! It’s every bit as F-ing awesome as you may think it could be. I am so damn happy. So nice man. It was is my “grail knife”. Oh my gosh man please get yourself one. I got the PVD coated all black one. I’m going to get another limited edition for ansafe queen. Going to use this puppy! Pull.the.trigger.
