I'm wicked bummed out folks. A knife I had been wanting and saving up for quite a while has thoroughly disappointed me. I just unboxed a new NW coast edition and to my horror there is the most atrocious case of lock stick I have ever encountered in all my life! I have Crk and Hinderers and even budget Wal-Mart blades that function flawless. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that I need 2 fingers and all my strength to disengage the lock bar! I tried all night to Maybe loosen things up, my poor fingers hurt so badly.
I slept on it and tried the lock again thinking maybe its better. Nope, its like its welded, its stuck so bad. There is clearly something wrong with the lock bar tension. It drags and cruches as you disengage it. I am not going to disassemble and clean and polish and try to figure this out. I shouldn't have to with a knife over $500! Im hoping the vendor will refund my money because the model is sold out and can't exchange it. I guess I could keep it and try my luck sending it off to Spartan blades for warranty work but who knows if they can get it right. Im not willing to go back and forth. Honestly I'm in the pissed off phase now and I know I should give the knife another go but honestly I just have a bad taste in my mouth. Im even considering cancelling my plague doctor order. These knives are just not quite Crk or Hinderers quality to be honest. They are close but not there yet.....I do love the engravings and ano though.

If you decide to keep it a while, put some Ox-Gard antioxidant compound on the blade tang where it meets the lock bar. I don't know how in the hell it works to stop and prevent lock stick, but it does.

Maybe try sharpie or graphite in the lock face? I did this with my TSF Gorgon and it worked.

That’s disappointing, brother. Hopefully the dealer will make it right…or at least the manufacturer.

I really wanted to love this knife too. It has qualities from both Crk.and Hinderers that I own and love. Im so disappointed....

I'd at least give them a chance and send it back for an exchange or fix. If the replacement/fix isn't satisfactory, then you can write them off.

So this is what Im going to do. I hope it donte bite me in the ass. I am returning knife back to vendor for a refund. I want to give this knife another chance so I just ordered the same knife from a different vendor. What are the odds I get another lemon right?....I get the knife I wanted sooner than later. Wish me luck....

I think you're right to send it back. If the replacement is also a disappointment...send it back and lesson learned.

It is too bad. I liked some of their knives I've seen online, but have never seen or held one in person.

I will say that Spartan's customer service is top notch, I've had them take care of a few things and they've always helped me out. Their knives may be a little rough around the edges sometimes, but they're good people.

My question is, at their price point, how do they let that out the door to go to a dealer? QA seems to be lacking, but I’m sure a lot of the others are as well.

The good news is, after you get your refund, you can start searching for your next knife! For me at least, the search and the wait is part of the fun. You like CRK and Hinderer. Maybe find a nice one of either of those. Or, try out something else new. Spyderco has some cool higher end models. Since it sounds like you are a CRK/Hinderer guy and I assume you like Ti framelocks, maybe something from Curtiss Knives? The Curtiss F3 looks to me like a Hinderer/CRK hybrid and the quality is excellent.

Return it or send it in for warranty. Complaining about it here isn’t going to magically fix it.
He's not complaining. He's sharing his experience and hoping to get some worthwhile feedback from the community here.

The fact that he posted this lets others, myself included, know about potential issues that they may have been unaware of otherwise.
