Spartan Harsey Owners..

I assume the folder? I had a large and while it was a great knife, the lack of sharpening choil bugged me and it seemed like it filled the exact niche my Magnacut sebenza does, just not quite as well.

I have a shf and have had a tt (fixed blade), both solid. I tend to agree, with dmg, I grab my inkosi over the shf. Inkosi cuts better, has a comfy'er handle and is easier in the pocket.

I do like solid built folders and the shf is a keeper. But it could be chamfered/radiused better for bare hands and I'd prefer a bit thinner bte. I love the design on my shf.

Is there something specific you need answered?

My Koi version broke in quicker than my two CRKs and has a better action than either. I prefer the thumb studs vs the CRKs. The aggressive jimping can take a bit to get used to and if you have really soft hands you'll likely not enjoy it. The overall shape of the handle fits my hands better than the CRKs, but it could be the opposite for you. Full disclosure, I got mine on a limited deal and it was $100 off the regular price. Would I like it as much if I had paid full price? That's a good question...

The SHF is an excellent knife and the people of Spartan Blades are fantastic, they really back their products

If you like it, go for it.

For its size it carries well and it slice correctly. Not as well as a CRK but better than a Hinderer.

The action is good after a short break in period.
The clip works fine and isn’t an hotspot
The blade doesn’t have a sharpening choil but that is a minor issue IMHO.

Been eyeing the folder for a while, going back and forth.
I really don't like buying a knife (especially at that price point) just to have to turn around and try selling it.
Since I can't get one in hand before buying, I was hoping to hear something that would either push me over the edge to buy it or simply forget it.

For me, if I've been mulling over a knife like that, I usually end up with it. So I say if it's been itching, give it a scratch. It is solid built and I do like the company. Might be able to find one on the exchange for a bit less.

I have a pair, a large and a small.

Zero complaints.

I like the way they feel in hand and both came to me sharp out of the box. Been carrying the large for two years. It hasn't become boring.

To be honest, I am a collector-user. Either of these knives are at the level of 'one and done'. So, that's kinda annoying and satisfying at the same time.

I should disclose that I have another set of twins. CRK Sebenza 31's, a large and small. I don't have a 'favorite' perse, that would make me a lousy Father, er owner.

They are comparable and equal, in my opinion. I'm not trying to derail the topic. I only mention it because there is also a budget variable in your question.

Buy what you can, use what you buy.

I would highly recommend the SHF, I own a few myself and they are excellent knives. The pros and cons have been discussed here, so you know what you're in for. I can't speak for others, but I have size XXL hands and the large SHF feels like it was molded to fit my hand personally in a way that no Seb (or Zaan for that matter) ever has. I have multiple CRKs as well and will always love them, but for me, the SHF is probably my pic of the two. If nothing else, at least Spartan knows how to design a proper thumbstud.

Have the Older Large in S35VN and S45VN. They are Big and heavy even for Titanium and have had some lock-stick issues, but overall I love the blade shape and rock solid construction... I believe they have gone ALL IN on the Magnacut... That is a good thing...!!!
