Spartan Harsey Owners..

I have no regrets buying the SHF. The fit and finish is perfect on mine, and it has broken in nicely.

I've owned the Sebenza longer than the SHF and it hasn't broken in as well as the SHF.

Obviously, these are subjective......
Pros
- Thick slabs of titanium for the frame.
- Nice design elements without being gawdy... well maybe the plain one :)
- Oversized standoffs and high-quality hardware.
- Feels substantial in the hand, yet not too big for smaller hands.
- Action is good and what you'd generally expect running on washers.

Cons
- Some sharp edges on the frame, especially around the jimping (you won't find any sharp edges on the Sebenza).
- Cutout to disengage the lock is not that big and not well thought out (seems it was designed for aesthetics only).
- No steel interface for the lock (old school, titanium on steel).

Other than that, I'd still buy another one in a heartbeat.

Love the warthog pattern, just wish it had some artwork on the lock side.

I have one and I really like it. A CRK designed to crank the hard use to 11.
If I had to pick one folder to rely on, it would probably be the SHF. That said, I like the fit of my Inkosi better. Also, the full size SHF is a heavy cuss. I don't mind the weight, but it's a no go for me during shorts weather where I'm no wearing a belt. I always have a MT, so that means my folder needs to be quite a bit lighter not to literally pull down my shorts.

I think I may lean towards a small version the next time just because at 4", the full size is a chunk of metal.

As I have said before, the Inkosi probably makes me a bit happier, but I won't deny the SHF is a helluva hard use knife. I wouldn't mind having a SHF when the SHTF.

I own two. My 3.25 is perfect, fit/finish/sharp, but recently (DLT) bought a full size w the “flourishes” finish. Blade is completely dull. Incredible attention to detail on frame, gorgeous knife, but what the hell w the blade? Completely lazy QC on this $550 knife.

I agree with this, my only thing is if shtf I have fixed blades with me nearly everywhere. Which always makes me question why I need a heavier folder that isn't that great at cutting. Between an rmj hawk and a dek 2 either on me or nearby I find myself carrying a more moderate folder. For me that's an inkosi.

It's well documented on the forum how much I've leaned to heavy duty folders through the years, I still have a bunch and love em. I toss and turn on the philosophy of use of hard use folders because I'm a fixed blade guy. Sigh lol sorry to bore everyone.

Appreciate everyone's input..
I ended up going in a slightly different direction for now.
There's a couple sticking points for me- I'd just have to check one out in person to know for sure.

As with most knives, if at all possible handle one before buying. The big is too big for my EDC preference and I don't like the ergos on the small.

These knives are like Pokemons...
Gotta own 'em all?

I'm seriously considering getting a SHF for my next knife, right now my most expensive one is a TOPS Tracker 3 (in Austria that cost me 280€) and my most expensive folder a Manix 2 XL (coming in at 230€), so the price jump to an SHF (which would probably be something close to 600€) is quite steep, but I'm curious to see if that much more money also gets you that much more knife ...

The Manix 2 XL will be difficult to beat in value and performance. I own several Manix 2s (not XL) and one large SHF. I like my SHF, but not at three times the price. However, if you love full titanium frame locks and the graphics, it may be worth it to you.

Sharpbits beat me.... The short answer would be ... probably not, I have a Manix XL and it's an excellent knife that would last a lifetime (I'm 65 :)). But if you want a large titanium frame lock, they're competitive for what you get.

You might want to consider a Sebenza. I have a work colleague, he's not a knife guy, but he hunts and camps. He wanted one higher end titanium folder, and he bought a Sebenza. He beats on it, sends it back to CRK every few years and they send it back looking like new. So, in his case the price tag is worth it.

Funny, I don't like my manix 2 and most.of my spydercos, but loooove my SHF's. Blade grind on crks is better at cutting though.

I thought I would be happy with two--the first was the NW Coast, brand new from a dealer, old pivot in S45VN...

...I liked it so much I just had to have a user, so I got this PJ from the second owner off the Exchange, nicely broken in and excellently re-profiled in S35VN.

The NW Coast broke in pretty quickly and I had two super smooth, sharp SHF's--one to beat on and other to EDC and keep nicer. All was right with the world until this one showed up LNIB on the Exchange...

...with the new pivot and custom ordered directly from Spartan in the color-way only available in the smaller size with smooth, deep Type 2 anodized slabs, bright brass new-style pivot, thumb studs, and stands-offs...

...with the darker, bronze-ish finished clip and filler plate, and USA etched on the lock-side. OK, I was gonna be happy at three until the friend that sold me that one DM'd to offer me this one last week--the Flourishes version in MagnaCut, basically BNIB.

I think I'm happy at four now--all super smooth, easily flickable, and a great fit for my hand. Yep, they're weighty, no, they're not slicey, but they're great cutters regardless--three still with more than adequately sharp factory edges and the PJ user having arrived with a scary-sharp, re-profiled edge. I find the F&F very close if not equal to that CRKs and RHKs (and I have quite a few of both of those), but the Harsey's have their own thing just like the Reeves and Hinderers have theirs.

I only have one. I got the Plague Doctor with Chad Nichols Damascus. It's a beautiful knife. It carries well & is comfortable to hold. I haven't cut much of anything with it except very light stuff. It has a good action to it & the lockup is solid, but for some reason it doesn't get much pocket time. My large Inkosi or SNG find their way into my pocket much more over it. I DO like their thumbstuds over CRK's though.

Mainly just commenting because I love seeing these SHF threads with pics and talk about peoples experience using them. It made me pull mine out and I'm playing with it now... (that didn't sound too good 😲). I think they're real big claim to fame is the awesome combination of the deep laser etching and the anodization. They're a great knife without it, but that extra bit really makes them pop! I do wish that they'd soften the edges on the jimping a bit, but if I ever get to really wrenching on it with leather gloves on, then I suppose I might see it as a plus.
