Spartan Knives - Huge Disappointment

Might just be me, but I believe you're allowed to judge a high-end company for putting out a dud. When you pay $500+, you should expect that they nail the basics like quality control to an exemplary degree. All of that comes before we begin to discuss fancy materials and high-end stuff.

Spartan does seem to put out too many knives with quality issues for OP's complaints to be unfounded.

I’m actually looking at getting a Harsey Folder. Steel on Ti is a big reason why. Strider still makes their knives like that. Sharpening I can fix, but I do believe it’s indicative of the mindset of a QC department. I mean, it’s a knife after all. It’s got one primary job.

Maybe someone can answer this. My favorite quality of the Sebenza 21 was being able to reassemble it however you want and tighten every screw down all the way. The knife required zero tuning or tweaking to run and lock up perfectly. Does the SHF share that attribute? I can safely say the 31 does not. I bought three thinking it was me….

My 31s go back together just like my 21s. Including crank the pivot all the way and get the same action. The lock up changed, but both models use the same pivot bushing.

And to stay on topic, I like the SHF I still have. I sold two others, solely to recoup funds to expand the collection. I'm likely to always have one in the collection.

The title of your thread is the problem.

You posted an attack upon the entire company rather than allow their customer service department make it right.

My Spartan with CQ issues became a hard use knife. Not a blanket complaint.

Edge Geometry, Heat Treatment and Customer Service: a different kind of 'trinity'. Spartan has a place in those ranks. Especially in hard use!
I don't know how you can consider my post as an "attack". Any customer has the right to complain about a product if it has legitimate issues. And from what we've seen in this thread, I'm not the only one that has had dull blades issues and underwhelming packing presentation. As a businessman, my brand and reputation is the top of my priorities. I'd love to see Spartan to improve their package design and presentation, I truly believe the SHF knives deserve a better package.

Lastly, I have updated the post with my current email exchange with both DLT Trading and Spartan. And both companies have shown the exact exemplary customer service as other have stated.

The forums are for us to share experiences both good and the bad, and if the brand truly cares about their reputation, I'd like to think they would take constructive criticism and improve in areas where the customers desire to be improved.
I think the comments reveal a pattern though. Spartan makes a great product but they have a little work to do in the QC department. I think that’s fair to say and doesn’t trash the company. They’re very close, if anything it’s complimentary.

That was my intention all along.
