I made this set for a fellow who wanted a socket handled spear shaped knife sharpened on one side and a frog gig that all fit in a sheath that he could hang on his belt or tie on his pack.

Spear is 11″ long, it and Gig are both from plow material. Sheath is veg-tanned scraps dyed w/ vinegaroon. Rings are from wrought iron nails. Haven’t heard from him so this set goes in the drawer for awhile……….Randy

Randy, the last time I was there, the American Roadhouse in Asheboro had some nice fat frog's legs and they were delicious....Howard

Pullrich, yes that one is vinegarooned and beeswax.

Howard, we eat at the Roadhouse about once a week. Hard to get past the seafood and Buffalo Burgers but the frog legs are good.......Randy

Neat!
Does vinegroon-dyed leather ever damage the steel it touches (due to the vinegar)?

No, Hesparus, you neutralist the vinegar after dying with baking soda water or just rinsing it good. If you do not oil it gets pretty stiff. I like the stiffer leather so I varnish or wax after it drys.....Randy
