Great looking knife! The character in both the Ironwood and the hamon realy shine. Nice handle shape too.

Hey Ian, good to hear from you, great to hear that cowboy knife is doing well for you. I got your e-mail but was unable to answer, it kept coming back to me. Something must be wrong. I can hold it if you would like, it's no problem, just let me know.

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate them all.
Larry this one is sporting some of the Ironwood I got from you. Lots of figure is this piece, thanks.

You just keep out doing yourself cousin, hope I can get another one from ya soon. Woody Hoover:eek:

I have a couple of questions about the build of this fighter knife.

Is the tang in this one hidden? If so you've hidden the pins well too.

Where is the center of balance on this beauty?

Hey woodgood,
The balance point on this one is just in front of the forefinger if you were holding the knife.

It is a hidden tang knife, the tang is 4 inches long, 9/16 inch wide behind the ricasso and tapers down to 5/16. There are no pins in the handle, I cut small teeth in the tang, filled the mortise in the handle with Brownels Acra Glass and set the handle. The mortise is rectangular not round, there is no way the blade can rotate within the handle. I considered pinnig it but decided a 1/8th pin would serve no purpose and possibly have the opposite effect on the strength of the bond.
The guard is hand fitted and secured with JB weld.
