I got a little humbled on this one.
When I first discussed the knife with the customer, and then got final approval on the drawing, I'll admit that I was only somewhat pleased with the concept and willing to go ahead on the knife with a 'business as usual' attitude.
Well, as the knife neared completion, I found myself really liking this thing! I even postponed a commitment today so I could finish it!
Then, when I got done, I called the customer and asked him if he cared that I make some more of them!.
I just really fell in love with this little spearpoint.
It is 52100, forged from some round stock and a take-down assembly using a nice piece of Desert Ironwood.
I thoroughly enjoyed this knife - can you tell?
Thanks, Paul.

Very Nice Karl, I also would be proud to carry that one.
Congratulations both to you and the customer.

The spearpoint is my favorite blade design....very rugged and versatile. This is a beauty Karl.

That's a real nice one Karl!

What are the specs? Looks like about 9" o/a?

That's a good looking and solid little knife. Not hard to see why you like it, as I'm sure your customer will as well.

lookin good!

Very attractive Karl. This little knife packs a punch i bet. Your winning converts by the dozens! :)
May I ask a couple of questions, first being - why the initial resistance to the design idea of it?

Secondly, on a small knife, necessity of the take-down option? I had the notion (for some reason) this was more a "big knife thing".

- wanted to also say, as side note, the design reminds me something of a few Terry Primos knives i've seen. He is out of business i guess..

David, I was a little unsure of the combination of the false edge and the spear point, but it's obvious the difficulty was ME.
It worked out great. And, I'm more comfortable with it now and hope to make more.
For some time now, take-down is not so much an "option" at Andersen Forge.
Fixed assembly is.
All of my knives are full through-tang assembly with everything extremely low tolerance, alignment pins, etc. Whether they are fixed assembly, or not, they're the same. Only a slight deviation in the final assembly.
And, it was the customer's request.

Nice Karl. VERY nice piece of ironwood and looks to be a handy size.

Your takedowns are COOL and well done.

Peter
