Spec Bump vs Paramilitary

Both......

Ya, I bet that really helped. :p

My preference would be the Spyderco. I prefer the blade shape, locking system and the fact that I do not have to get it with a coated blade. I am also not a fan of assisted opening knives.

The Paramillie is an instant classic. We'll look back five years from now and realize that we witnessed the creation of one of the all-time greats.

Sebenza.... :p ;)

I'm actually faced with a similar problem. I'd like to get a Para-M to compliment my regular Military, but the Kershaw is just so cool. I'd definitely need to wait until I could get a Bump without all the billboard size text on the blade. Have you thought about a coin toss?

how about. . . a Rat Trap?

Both!! You will end up with both anyway!!!!

I have a green Bump, and LOVE it!! So, I would lean towards the Spec. Bump.

okay, I need some more help, as I probably have to order tomorrow...and still can't decide....yeah, I'll probably EVENTUALLY end up getting both. Is the kershaw spec bump a real limited run or will it be produced in another form after that 500 has run out. I'd like to see it without a black blade and ugly limited run markings....

Also, any other awesome knives I need in that range?

I would take the paramilitary. more useful bladeshape and the assisted opening is something I can do without (and is probably deemed as an automatic where I am).

They're both great knives, but I'd go with the Bump. It offers a more secure grip than the Paramilitary.

Paramilitary:

  • Better steel (IMO).
  • Considerably lighter - 5.3 oz vs 3.75 oz
  • Likely easier to sharpen on systems like the Sharpmaker. You're supposed to keep the edge perpendicular to the surface below - the Bump looks like it would be a PITA to sharpen in this way
  • Flat grind
  • USA company, USA-made knife

Probably ordering today, leaning torwards the Kershaw. Someone convince me otherwise or show me other comparable knives I need before it's too late
