Spec-Elite I - VG10 or AUS8

Hi. Having bought a Spec-Elite I. How to recognize whether a blade of VG10, or AUS8? The box or the blade is not a sign of the material. The dealer said that the VG10, but the price was like for AUS8... thx

I really do not know anyone advise? Please.
 
This has been discussed several times on the forums here. We switched to VG-10 from AUS8 3-4 years ago and there was no cost increase. There are no marking on the blades indicating the steel. However since we have not shipped a AUS8 Spec Elite in over 3 years it is same to say that the knife you have is VG-10.
 
OK, thanks. On e-bay is still selling knives AUS8. Even some large e-shops have offered SOG Spec-Elite from AUS8. So I asked ...
 
Yeah, I think most people do not bother to check the specs and just use what they have from years ago.
