Can any folks carry their CW's in a Spec Ops lend some insight?

I'm looking to carry this backpacking/backcountry camping, so I'll have a pack strapped around my waist during most of my carry time. Looks like the belt loops on the sheath will probably keep it too high for me to wear with my pack, so I'm thinking of doing a couple of things.

Easiest, paracord tie it through the loops or MOLLE slots and tie around my belt.

Or, get a tri-bar slide (http://www.hardwareelf.com/elfapp/jsp/ring_page.jsp) and some webbing...put the loops through the lower portion, get a web/buckle setup for the top portion for my belt. Can anyone tell me how wide the two belt loops are on the sheath? Trying to figure if there's a tri-bar wide enough for them to fit through...

Any other ideas anyone wants to offer would be pretty cool...

Also, how's the paracord at the bottom of the sheath? Will it secure it enough around my thigh to keep it still and accessible? Or should I look to strap through the web loop at the bottom? How's the draw from the sheath? Is there a thumb-rest pull to keep the sheath from lifting up my pants leg as I draw, or do I have to depend on the the leg tie to keep it from riding up?

Also, how's the liner fit? Anyone heat it up for more secure grab, or is it good from the get-go?

Anyone use the "Navigator"...guess it's the same as the Combat, but with a light diffuser at the bottom of the pouch??

Any help from you fine folks, is surely appreciated.

2 3/4" wide

Paracord does work, IMO some thinner webbing is more comfortable and provides a little more grab keeping the sheath in place.

There is a 1/2" plastic lip on my sheath. The protruding plastic may have been done away with on later spec ops sheaths. I depend on the leg webbing to keep the sheath down. The blade is wide so will sometimes start to slice the retention snaps, this has not become a big issue.

The fit is good, small amount of friction and the weight of the blade keep the knife down.

Hope this helps.

Have ya considered a DROP-LEG MODULAR PANEL by Spec-Ops??? There are several out there but being your talking S-Ops, that's where my mind went first. Yea there approx $50.00 but the options of what you can do far outway the additional cost in my book.

You can get the sheathes for Pistol Mags, flash lights, what ever and put them on the drop panel as well. This gives you a tremendous amount of flexability in your carry options. I to have carried many pack with belt straps and you loose the space around your waste, and when they came out with the drop set ups I said YEA finally.

Good luck what ever you deside and HAVE FUN!!!

Thanks, studio...exactly what I was hoping to get from someone. Very much appreciated!

RussMO, yeah I was thinking of getting a drop leg, but like you said it tacks on a bit more to the total cost. I really think I'll only be strapping the knife on..though it cross my mind to attach a small pouch w/emergency supplies. If I go w/the Combat Master, I can use it's pouch for that.
