I don't understand why it was not permitted for me to announce for the Buck fans where some special limited edition knives are available. I viewed it as a PSA and I'm sure people would want to know. Is this not a Buck forum? It is an event that CJ Buck attended and the sponsor shop made some limited edition knives. Yes, the sponsor is selling the knives, but it is a major player that we all know and some collectors like these limited editions. My post making such announcement was deleted. Well, I announced it on Facebook too on BCCI, so you could go there to see it. But I know a lot of you don't use Facebook. Since the event started at 10 am, it may be too late now to get them anyway, didn't check. A lot of the Facebook people sent me DMs thanking me for giving them a heads-up on the event.

I was there and picked up the special 110 and had CJ Buck sign it along with an aluminum Buck glass that was being given out, My buddy who was with me bought one also. They had 100 of the 110"s,

It was probably the vendor thing.

Funny how everyone talks of Wal-Mart no issue tho......
🤔
I think if it were a supplier just having a sale on production knives, then the rule, if that supplier isn't on bladeforums, should apply. However, if a supplier made a Buck exclusive, dagnabit I want to know about it. In that case I don't care if the supplier is a bladeforums sponsor or not. Most people who collect knives want to know about the exclusives.

If they are willing, perhaps this could be something Buck themselves did. If they are making an exclusive, they know who it is for. If that individual/club/vendor didn't object, they could let Buck inform us about it on a certain date. Then, the post would be by a supporting manufacturer instead of a non-supporting vendor. (Would that be allowed or still not?) As I am a BCCI member, but not on Facebook, I would have liked to have known about it.

Been down this road many times. It's been explained to me that buck doesn't own blade forums. A guy or some guys do. They have rules to make their lives easier. Disobeying their rules is bad for the Buck forum as it would be for any other brand forum on here.

I would think it would be ok to say something very vague, as talking about the bay and wally world seem to be loosely accepted, but if you were at all specific you can expect someone on here to correct you.

110 and 722 Spitfire. Limited edition 100 each.
Made for event at Red Hill Cutlery last weekend. CJ Buck was there.
The event is now over so it should be OK to post pictorial documentation of the knives.
I do not go to the BCCI Facebook site often but did see a post about it there.

That's an awesome spitfire. Is it full size? Wish I knew about those... hahaha.

I read the 110 is Ebony Dymondwood but it looks real to me. I would love to see a 110 with real Kentucky bourbon barrel wood scales and a barrel shield. That would be cool.
It is real Ebony, meeting CJ and Andy Armstrong of Rosecraft knives was the highlight of the day for me. Both very nice and knowledgable men.

The site says the 110 is made of Macassar Ebony. But is that a typo? Since Crelicam Ebony is used now. Or did they go make to their pre-1994 material for this release. Or perhaps someone can enlighten me on the 110/112 materials since the micarta. I've heard Obeche, Macassar ebony, Crelicam ebony, and Dymondwood. Which one was used in which time frames?

I'll give it a try.... Macassar is an ebony wood from Indonesia. The harvesting of Macassar was unsustainable and sourcing becoming difficult. Starting in 1994, the handles changed to an Obeche Dymondwood, a birch plywood with the top veneer being Obeche. Obeche had a very similar appearance to Macassar ebony. Crelicam is the brand name for a Taylor Guitars project raising and harvesting ebony in a sustainable manner in Cameroon, Western Africa. Buck started using the Crelicam ebony about 2019. (corrections welcome)
