Special Custom Knives @ Exceptional Values?

These are really fine and handy little EDC Fixed-blades at a very good value. As you can tell from the photos, the piece has a well-executed palm swell making it very comfortable in hand and a tapered tang. The blade is as sharp as a razor.

Came with a very nice little pocket sheath:

A nicely tapered tang and very ergonomically executed palm swell/handle shape:

Prices for which I purchased then sold knives for over the last 5 years indicates prices have headed up. However that's probably more a reflection of select maker's having a healthy secondary market as opposed to how much knifemakers in general have increased their prices during the period.

Or it could be a reflection that you are an astute investor.

I am not sure - in fact I do not believe - that these experiences can be extrapolated across the custom knife market.

As a counter-example, I have had a knife for sale here in the Exchange forum for some time now from a very well-known MS maker who posts in this forum all the time. I am the original owner and the knife has never been used or carried, and is offered for less than what I paid the maker for it a year and a half ago. Not even a single nibble. I imagine that many others here could relate similar experiences.

So I think we would need a lot more data to conclude that overall the prices for custom knives have increased over the last five years - especially in the segment of the market covered by this thread.

As I've said many times and mentioned in my seminars, it's my opinion that the 'Exchange Forum' is a good place to purchase knives, however not so good a place to sell custom knives. I've only used it rarely when a particular maker had a very strong following on the BF. Frankly, I wouldn't expect much success there or on eBay, especially with higher end pieces.

By the way, I don't consider myself a custom knife investor but a collector, who also derives pleasure from buying and selling. :)

Anyway, we are starting to stray from the topic of this thread.
