Doesn't the laser etching go all the way thru the steel?
By definition, the word "etch" describes a surface treatment. In this case, the laser is applied to the blade after it's coated, and it does penetrate completely through the coating, but because of that, the surface of the metal gets even less penetration than it would if applied directly. Look at some of Clich's pics of his BK16 and you can still see Ethan's sig. and the FPR text etched on the surface, but it is very light after stripping (and probably some sanding by Clich too).
This BK4 being offered here has the old-style roll stamp that is comparatively deep, and won't be obscured by stripping, sanding and polishing.
Neither way of applying the logo goes all the way through the steel though.
For those who left a message and then came back and said they placed their order, did you keep calling back, or did Christie call you back? I left a message about 50 minutes ago and have time to be patient, but certainly don't want to miss out. This release is not just for Beckerheads, so 200 isn't that many since it's available to the whole forum, and some are ordering more than one. Guess I just answered my own question....I better get back on the horn. LOL
