special operations knives

His posting could be a bit more efficient but he is talking about knives, however your comments are strictly against Bladeforums rules of intersersonal commentary being "nice".

I prefer unmoderated discussions, on the internet and in real life. I was just pointing out the irony of you advocating a ban on posts which are actually the point of the forums (discussing knives) while engaging in behavior which is strictly against it (not "being nice"). I didn't read the racist remarks in the political forum, that is a different matter, of course.

The guy asked a few questions some were repeats, I get more in email, and some are just as manic, multiple emails from the same person on similar topics, essentially it is someone firing off an email as each new point/query comes into their mind. It is no big deal to cut and paste them into one reply, you can do the same thing across various threads.

Not everyone is familiar with discussion software, ghostsix being an example of behavior that was much more difficult to follow, lots of informative posts, but he used to respond in one thread to comments in another, following his conversations was difficult, however you don't need to read them. Just stick jarrode on your ignore list and problem solved.

He made his racist remarks in the Review section, his post in Political was simply...well silly. Go read it before you accuse me of violating the rules. I don't see how calling clearly immature behavior immature could ever be a violation of rules at any discussion board.
You don't have to be internet-savvy at all to take other people's advice. Newbies get quite a lot of leeway here - and rightfully so. But once more experienced people on the board point out things they need to improve, it is their responsiblity to learn how to use the site if they want to benefit from the vast knowledge base BFC represents, especially if you get it in posts with links to relevant posts and simple netiquette tips.

I don't like to put people on my ignore list, as I like to know what's going on here and want to help improve the "signal to noise" ratio in the knife discussion sub-forums a bit.

As I said, report my post if you think it's against the rules, even if you dislike moderated discussions as I don't see why it would be against the rules.

It is your opinion that he is immature, an opinion on his personal character not about knives and certainly not "nice", so it is clearly doubly against the intention of this forum.

Racism is an interesting thing, it is often tolerated depending on the target, a knifemaker recently refered to "rag heads", this is a fairly offensive term but because of who it is applied to nothing was said.

As noted though, racist remarks are different than a few spamming posts, one is clearly out of line, the other is just a bit manic.

Personally, I don't object to harassing racists, regardless of whether it's done consistently across the board. It trancends the need to be nice. I too would rather be banned than pander to a racist.

Wow, lots of machismo here.

SEALS sometimes like Mission knives as they are titanium and will have no magnetic signatures (especially for work around mines). As for the rest of the "spec ops" community, they have a slew of different knives. But the one thing is consistant is they get what they can get their hands on.

If you are trying to find a knife for yourself. Pic the one most comfortable to use, weight, ease of carry and as long as it is of good steel you should be okay.

Why don't you check the board to see what the favorite carry knife is. These guys know their stuff and you won't go wrong.

One last piece of advice. If it says "made in tawain" don't get it. :D

I really didn`t think it was that racist. Besides i was referring to CHINK KNIVES and wasn`t trying to offend anybody. I also use the term Rag-head alot too.

Cliff, will you continue to defend this guy?

I was mainly commenting on the multiple threads, racist terms are different and should be avoided in general on Bladeforums and most public forums because people will assume you mean them as insults. I didn't defend the multiple threads either, it isn't the most efficient way to post, however attacking the guy isn't going to help.

You're kind of dumb.

If I were to say I won't purchase "Wetback food" from a restaurant in NY, would that be racist? Yes. When you say you won't buy "chink knives," it's just as racist. If you did not consciously mean it as such, you need to be more careful how you phrase things.

The thing is, people have suggested over, and over, and over, how he could better utilize this forum. The animosity that you are seeing is because he just keeps doing things the same way no matter how much good advice he gets.

Personally, I believe in giving new members a lot of leeway, but after awhile you expect them to be able to grasp the concept, and get with the program.

"Chink" can be seen as offensive to some people and to some others it's nothing. Just like the N word. A black person saying it to a black person is okay, but a white person saying to a black person. Stand back, Sh*t is going to fly.

But when it comes down to it, it's just a word. Whether or not Jarodde93 used good common sense using "Chink" is another matter. I'm sure he will not use it on this board again seeing how some of use don't like it. Right????Jarodde???

Either way, welcome to the board, if your a newbie, listen more than you speak, you'll find you'll learn a lot. I didn't start posting for a year after I was frequenting this board. Have learned a lot about knives.

You're kind of right - nicely phrased.
I could of summed him up in more flowery prose, but you summed it up succinctly.
