I just wanted to write a post thanking Fonly for some generous gifts he bundled up for me with a payment made for a knife. I know this should probably go in GBU, but this just goes to demonstrate the great spirit we have around these parts.
While expecting a MO for the RC-6 which he decided to purchase, he also included the following items with his MO. A victorinox Rucksack and two light sticks!
This was totally unexpected and a super surprise. The Rucksack is the first locking SAK I have handled to date and it seems like a really great knife. The lightsticks are super useful to me, especially in my field research where I like to clip them to gear or students when doing night work.
I never quite appreciated how much larger the Rucksack is compared to the standard pocket SAK. Here it is in contrast to my camper.
In addition to the considerably longer blade, the handle of the Rucksack is also nicely contoured and it actually feels like a knife in your hand. The folded tools don't jab into your palm like they do on the smaller saks. This knife is actually comfortable to hold!
I also note how much bigger the saw is on the Rucksack compared to my older camper.
While I haven't sawed anything with the new Rucksack yet, I can appreciate how its extra length and girth, adding to its stiffness, will really help. As a camping companion, I immediately see the benefits of the Rucksack on a size and usability comparison relative to the smaller SAK's I usually throw in my bag. The Rucksack is most definitely going to see duty as a multitool of choice in my upcoming camping adventures.
Again, thanks so much Fonly. This was a super generous gift and I really appreciate the spirit in which your fine knife was given. It will have lots of use. I guess I will now have to find a new home for the camper!
