Special XM-18's for the Zurich SWAT Team

The SWAT is my grail, and I was REAL lucky, for a while I had two of 'em! Eventually sold my safe queen for a pretty penny, while the other is in my edc rotation.

Oh, and I prefer black DLC. My current herd:

They all look great! I'm envious of your swat but will keep searching, very impressive lot you have amassed!

If ever a Spearpoint 24 Flipper in Black DLC exists, it must find me.

BT, I have complimented your knives before, and am now doing it again. Nice variety and excellent examples.

Thanks for the comments! As for that uber pointy one, with the 'Aggressor' grind, I got to watch Rick grind and assemble that one at the GTG!

So the Swiss can get these but not a U.S veteran seems kinda messed up to me. Just my opinion

And just to clarify I don't mean just this knife. My father is a Vietnam veteran and has contacted hinderer multiple times trying to purchase an XM and never even got a response.

Rob from Hinderer responds almost immediately to emails. Vets can get regular and customs directly from hinderer but this blacked out version was a sprint run if you must for the SWE swat team.

Nope not in his case and have been told by others that it must be ACTIVE military.

The policy is pretty clear:

The following CURRENT/ACTIVE personnel can order direct from us:
MILITARY - LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS - FIRE - EMT - EMS

And it is also noted on their website:

**Please note that all XM folding knife sales are conducted through our authorized dealers,
unless you are Current / Active – Military / Law Enforcement / Fire / EMT / EMS**

Seems pretty reasonable to me that they offer active members direct access but can't extend it to all veterans, they just don't make the quantity to cover everyone and their priority is to cover those that will be using them in the field.

The entire policy is stickied in this forum:

My point exactly. Foreign military seems to get favored over U.S. Veterans.Just doesnt seem right to me.Not bashing just my opinion.I have owned several Xm's and will surely own several more in time.

I see what you're saying now. I suppose if the SWAT team contacted him because it's something they need when on duty now he might make that priority over non-active vets.

And I see where that probably upsets you. You'd think maybe they could extend that direct sales policy/discount to anyone who's ever server in the U.S. Military.
It makes a great EDC knife that even civis can use constantly through day to day work. I think the point is he is giving back to are currently serving but I agree that those who served before us are just as entitled to benefits.

It really isn't open for debate but Hinderer Knives clearly favors supporting active members over inactive, regardless of nationality. This is their prerogative, but it is well recognized that we in the US have friends all over the world in armed forces serving countries other than the US but assisting in similar efforts. Having an elite force like Zurich SWAT carry your specific knife is a pretty cool thing and something Hinderer Knives was able to accommodate (and probably far easier to accommodate compared to every one that has ever served in the military, law enforcement, fire, EMT or EMS whch probably numbers in the 100s of thousands of people as you are suggesting they do). I too support veterans, but I would rather see a Hinderer knife in the hands of an active British military member than a veteran if I had to choose.

I applaud Hinderer Knives for their policy, that is my opinion.

I see your point in the matter that typically an active duty member will get more "important" usage out of the knife. But I feel vets deserve the same respect such as a WW2 vet who gave and lost everything he had and knew to fight for his country but isn't allowed to purchase a knife direct at a discounted price.
It's Hinderers policy so they can do whatever they choose but maybe it'd be nice if active military took priority on orders but anyone who's ever served was entitled to the discount and direct purchasing.
