Specialized blade shapes, thoughts and opinions please.

I would love a HTM Karambit. That would be one dead sexy blade.

So, this Karambit, would it be a folder or fixed blade? My heart is always in folders for EDC (except my new CPM 10V :devilish: custom I have coming~6.75" OAL).

I think a high quality FOLDING Karambit would be very cool, especially one to compete with Emerson in that arena, except the fit and finish will actually be excellent. Maybe a good, tough S30V or S35VN (no super steels, must be somewhat easy to sharpen/also be tough). Maybe HTM's excellent Ti liner lock with G-10 handles or even Alum. handles with ETAC, and a big hole at the end. Of course, this wouldn't be a cheap knife at those specs, but look at how difficult it is to find the Emerson variants and they have somewhat poor f&f(IMO) and 154CM. I think this would be a great seller. Maybe an assisted opener Karambit? Has that been done before? Oh man, a niche of a niche.

Well, get to work Dirk! C'mon, at least a sketch. You brought it up first! Oh yeah, my name is Chris if you want to name it after me.:D

idk guys ive awlays been partial to the clip point tanto i love that blade style, it puts me in the frame of mind of honor like its the warriors blade, even the regular tanto just screams to me "i am power!!!" but hey not every one likes it lol just throwing in my 2 cents worth ^_^

Wharncliffs and tantos seem to be quite popular. Have no fear, HTM will be covering those bases. :)

Karambits, there is something about a karambit, no doubt. I don't know if there is anything in the pipeline. However, if the demand is high enough it will happen sooner rather than later. I can say, once HTM establishes the line up, a karambit will be looked at. Possibly both a fixed and folder.

Do you think HTM needs to be in the big fixed blade market?

That's excellent news about the Karambit possibility, thanks for that. I would/will buy a folder for sure.

I know you guys have the Randall King HTM fixed blades, so I am guessing we are talking a Becker size knife like a BK7 or other large fixed blade? More of a general utility, outdoors type survival knife? I think that would be pretty cool. I am a fan of high carbon steels for those sort of things. Maybe something in CPM M4 or 3V? Or even just good old A2?

I would love to hear you elaborate.

honestly i dont care for the idea of an HTM fixed blade i saw the ones at the show and they didnt .... SING ... as true as the folders did if that makes any sense

I think it is safe to say HTM is, without a doubt, all about folders. However, even if fixed blades are a much smaller percentage of the knife market they still need to be represented. The one thing you can be sure about, when the HTM FB line up expands, you will find they will be a solid chorus to the folders.

I really don't have a particular use for the Randall King designs, but I will own one inevitably. I love a good fighting knife and I love every time someone asks, "how are the scales attached?"

I would love to see an all-purpose, outdoor style FB. And you know I don't mean some 1/4" thick monster that can't slice or cut. I want something usable, and comfortable.

But, first I want that karambit. I even have a name for it, the HTM Karambit. Why did you have to bring this up? Great, now we need a forum Karambit.

I think it is very safe to say, HTM will have an all purpose outdoor style fixed blade. The first one coming won't be a "monster", but something very easy to carry and very utilitarian.

Forum karambit......that might be an idea to get it moving.

All I know is that my wife and I are looking forward to getting our first blades from Mr. Ralph. AXD's with Bowie blades, assisted opening 4 inch models. Although since my hands are nearly 3xl glove size I may switch to the 5.5 bladesize.

Persians are a style of blade that can pop up when least expected. I am not saying anything here. I am just pointing out that one mans persian can be another's slim recurve bowie or even a trailing point game knife. On a personal note, I am more inclined toward the Jambiya style. You could probably guess that if you have seen my custom Persian and the Meyerco collaboration. By the way, both are being redone. The changes will be subtle but a noticeable improvement.

Ron, you can't go wrong with an AXD. The crazy thing about Darrel's 5.5" and up folders, he has designed them so well, they don't seem that big when you are holding them. It is crazy but, I think of his 5.5" folders as a medium size and his 7" folders as the large knives. I think your idea of going with one 4" and one 5.5" is very smart. I mean hand size aside, why limit yourself to just a 4" blade?

I am a trucker and I don't want to be attracting attention from the authorities. I have sent a messenger to lisa and asked her about getting a larger knife. Mine is nothing too fancy just an AXD with a black g-10 onlay. My wife is an AXD with lightning strike carbon fiber onlay. Both of the Bowie style blades. Never have had a custom folding knife before. I am looking forward to it!
