Mine is fairly red/brown throughout the handle, no tan. Looks good though. Heavy but not unwieldy, balance point is well ahead of the handle. Makes a sweet sound swinging through the air! One thing I would change if I had my druthers would be to shorten up the handle modestly (1/2-5/8 inch) to get that locked in feeling, and a 25" or longer blade would be sweet. But for my first Viking sword, I couldn't ask for anything much better than full tang, INFI sweetness... I won't have to baby it, that's for sure!

If you dare take a bit of dawn dish soap to it and remove the oils and see what it looks like.

Or go the other way, and slather it in some mineral oil. Then wipe it down with a rag.

Or I can just use it until my hand causes the handle to darken with time.
