Mine is fairly red/brown throughout the handle, no tan. Looks good though. Heavy but not unwieldy, balance point is well ahead of the handle. Makes a sweet sound swinging through the air! One thing I would change if I had my druthers would be to shorten up the handle modestly (1/2-5/8 inch) to get that locked in feeling, and a 25" or longer blade would be sweet. But for my first Viking sword, I couldn't ask for anything much better than full tang, INFI sweetness... I won't have to baby it, that's for sure!

If you dare take a bit of dawn dish soap to it and remove the oils and see what it looks like.

Or go the other way, and slather it in some mineral oil. Then wipe it down with a rag.

It’s absolutely marvelous. The fit and finish is perfect. The shop did the killer job on the competition satin. Just polished her up with Tsubaki oil and Wow.

Still waiting on my sheath. I am carrying it as should be... in my hand, over my shoulder, at the dinner table, propped up beside my bed. Wife can barely keep her hands off me. She probably thinks I look like Conan the Barbarian's shorter, better looking twin brother.
