I own a Gerber Spectre pre-production prototype that I bought off Ebay. The knife came with a signed letter of authenticity from Douglas Hutchens who worked at Gerber from 1968 to 2002. He was the marketing manager at Gerber when this knife was developed and he also led the product development team of engineers and designers that helped bring the Spectre to market. The knife features a 154CM blade, checkered G10 peel ply handles and 6AL4V Titanium liners. The blade is coated with titanium nitride using the ion-vapor deposition process. This prototype knife is one of only four pre-production knives produced with the "Gold" titanium nitride.

I would like to know if anyone has ever seen or heard of this knife.

Here's the link to an image of the knife

Have any bigger pictures by any chance?

Why? You seem to know everything about it, so I don't think we can tell you anything.

If you want to know value, we cannot tell you that.

Are you trying to promote a knife you are trying to sell? Kinda sounds like it.

This feels sort a like deja vu.... were you on here earlier asking about selling this knife? Just curious. That isn't technically what this thread is about but it could be seen as promotion, especially if you tried to sell in the past... just sayin'.

Well I would like to know if any one else owns this knife plus I know that there is another version of this but I don't have any info on it.

Was not trying to sell it my thread got closed by a mod Bastid so I could not say stuff like is any one interested in it.

Okay, I'll bite... what is this other version, and if you know there is this other version, why is info scarce?

If you had read more you would see that I am still looking for others that either own this knife or have seen this knife before. But thanks for the comment anyway.

Then why mention the signed letter of authenticity? Someone who has owned or seen that knife knife wouldn't need that bit of info. Some buying the knife might.

I had one just like it, without the letter. It was crap. Poor build quality, poor fit and finish, poor ergos, and so on. I would not give 5 dollars for another one. I traded it straight up for a Kershaw needs work, and still felt like I ripped the other guy off. I don't care if it is ti, 154cm, g10.....ya can't spit shine a turd.

Well I am sorry to hear that but this is good knife I haven't cut anything yet and I do not plan to but I can just tell that this knife is very nicely made not like some of the newer Gerber's it fits great in my hand has nice jimping and locks nicely into place. Some people like my self like Gerber and others don't. Did you own the Gold blade or the other one?

To prove that it's one of the four and also to see if any one else has a letter.

Yet again, someone who has owned or seen the knife wouldn't need that info. NCCNC didn't. But someone interested in buying would need the info.

And why say NCCNC is wrong? He was the only one familiar enough with the knife to have an opinion, and you dismissed it.

Cutting is one aspect that most people use to judge how good a knife is.

Not a bad looking knife IMO. Did it ever go into production?
