I have heard of some ppl saying that the torsion bar will snap in these knifes with speed safe,

Anyone mind sharing how did it snap? during opening/closing?
or when the blade is kept close?

I havent heard this, I am wondering where you did.

I have a leek with the speed safe, and I have flicked it an insane amount of times already with no problems. In fact I use it at work to slice things dozens of times per day besides the flicking just for the hell of it.

I have every Kershaw model with Speed Safe except the new Offset. I carry a Speed Safe knife almost every day. I've opened and closed the knives thousands of times. Total failures = 1 when I was closing the knife (Whirlwind). When I told Kershaw they gave me five new springs. I still have four springs left.

If you do have a problem, Kershaw will take care of you. I love playing with Speed Safe knives. :D

There's been a few reports of torsion bars breaking. Not many (considering the number that have been sold), but some. Of course, you never hear about the ones that don't break.

In the reports of breakages however, they're all accompanied by a report of Kershaw repairing the knife without question, or sending mutiple (like 3-5) replacement torsion bars to the customer. So even if you're one of the unlucky few, you'll be taken care of by Kershaw's excellent customer service.

I got a Scallion when they were released. I've opened it somewhere between 1.5k and 2k times. (3 year estimate, how many times I open it a week, etc) and it still works. Plus Kershaw has a great customer service reputation. And the knife will still work if the bar breaks, you just will have to use the thumbstud or flipper line on a non-speed assist knife, so its not like its going to be totally broken while you wait.

I had an Avalanche that was "slow" compared to a friends. I emailed Kershaw and they sent me 5 new "springs" for it. I replaced the old one (which is very easy if you have the torx bits) and the knife worked great.
