SPEEDTECH or Sebenza under the tree?

i forgot to add that he LOVES the speedtech. i'm hoping he'll write a review of it...he also has a small sebenza, so he can make a nice comparison.

actually, since the speedtech arrived, he's been carrying BOTH and he's a very happy camper!

i like the lines of the speedtech, and the smooth, easy operation. for me, a sebenza is a bit tough to open one-handed, and harder to close. no problem with the speedtech. the lock on the speedtech is rock solid, as is the sebbie. handle of the speedtech is unlike anything i've seen on a non-custom knife: it is so well shaped to the hand that it's a very comfortable knife to hold. i got him the swept point blade, and it's just lovely, and shhhhharrrrrppp. the clip grips well, but not TOO well, and the unusual shape of it seems to help it be easier on pocket fabric.

plus his is GREEN, and folks, most of the scans i have seen just do not do these colours justice! this green is a vibrant green that makes it really stand out from all the black.

ok, so there's my mini-review. . .his will be a million times better since the dang thing hasn't left his hand for more than shower-time and occasional rest periods...

both the sebbie and the speedtech are great knives, and if i had to choose, i'd have a tough time myself.

I already own a Sebenza, but I would choose a smaller one over a SpeedTech, still. I handled one of these when they first came out at Blade '99 with my hands slightly sweaty - that thing is slick as owl $#*! Have any of you had any problems in usage? The more folders I handle, the more I love my 'benz. I would like to see a Apogee and Carnivour, though.

Is that the "corporate" color?? Are you happy with that blade style??

I think the color is "brandywine" and I love the blade style. It is a little difficult to maintain angle at the tip on sharpening (I put a more aggressive edge on the knife) but it really works well for me!

Silverwing,
Thanks for the input! I'm going for the SpeedTech.
Fracmeister,
I kind of like their California Camo color called "Corporate" According to the website, it like a purple anodize with colored spashes on it. I thought that might have been what is in your pic.
I'm leaning toward the tanto blade but I still have a few days to decide.

Both knives are great. I have a Speedtech in the same color as above (Goldwine). It has the Elishewitz tanto. I was just playing with it earlier. It is a little slick to hold. I've heard some comments to get the coarse rather than the medium finish. Blade is fabulous. The action feels a little tight. (Jim - any suggestions?) Beautiful knife, but with the IPO blade, I don't use this one. I have another on order with the regular tanto for a user. All that said, my small Sebenza is my daily carry. There's just something about the feel of that stonewashed BG-42!

Dr. Lathe,
personally, I'd take the SpeedTech, even though I already have one. Well, actually, my wife has that one, so there seems to be a vacancy

I ordered her the "Corporate", swept point, standard pivot pin. The blade was one of the handground ones that Allen Elishewitz did. It's absolutely stunning and the corporate color sceme is beautiful. I bet you'd love it

This Christmas I gave my children each a knife from the 04/10 set of Chris Reeve knives. The run that was exclusively made for AZCK; decorated scales, Darryl Thomas raindrop pattern Damascus.

My eldest child informed me a few days *before* Christmas that she loved the knife. Sigh. You TRY and teach them to avoid immediate gratification, but...

Anyway, what's a Speedtech?

Already have a 'benza, with another on the way. So I'd have to say Speedtech. I would love one, but it's a ways down on my list!
