Spending the night in a hammock

I wear fleece inside my Clark when it gets below 50F outside. I use a quilt with synthetic filling for pulling over me once inside it. Why wrestle with a sleeping bag? A Clark Jungle hammock IS one of the Finer kind in hammocks IME.

Just for the record, if I were headed to the Amazon I would invest in a top brand hammock like a Clark or Hennessy. Mac

So which is best a Hennessy or a Clark. Has anyone tried both or compared one to an ENO

I lived out of my Clark Jungle Hammock for over a year in Central America; then spent 2 years in the Hawaiian Bush with it. It sleeps just like the day I got it:thumbup: It has'nt had a flaw in it's system that I could find in all my years of using it.

Forget the ENO, it's a campground hammock IME. I've tried them all, and the only hammock that can rival a Clark for comfort is a Hennessy. But you have to enter a Hennessy from the bottom. With a Clark, well you have more options than even in a tent! You can use it as a chair to sit in the shade of the rainfly in camp and read; it's fast to pitch if you want a quick nap along the trail too. If star gazing you can unzip the netting down to your feet, also leave it there if no bugs. But best of all you can enter or exit from either side of the Clark Jungle Hammock. You really have to have tried them all to understand my loyalty to the Clark Jungle hammock. Suffice it to say I will never not own one, and it's a quality piece of gear, just like a better brand of knife. You'll be thanking yourself for getting one. Better yet, buy your wife, girlfriend one and she;ll never complain about 'going camping again'!:D

I have enjoyed these hammocks from my own Rocky Mountains, to the Swiss Alps.

A few questions if you don't mind:

Do you use a tarp overhead?
What size, single or double?
What do you do in colder weather?
Durability?

Thanks :)

I do use an Army poncho overhead, although it's so dry in Colorado, it's generally there for peace of mind. I purchased the single size. You would definitely need some sort of insulation - I usually use a sleeping bag or blanket (I usually use it in the summer where I could get away with having less). So far, it has been quite durable. I checked it over for any tears, rips, or threads coming out and I didn't see any. I've had it for about 2 years now and I'm still very happy.

I have to give one for the clarks. Excellent hammocks. Not that I've used a whole lot but I bought mine on advice from my father and I've never needed another. +1

I have both a Clark North American jungle hammock, and a Claytor Mosquito Hammock. Both are good. The Clark is more ‘top of the line’, and with the features comes a higher price. The Claytor is probably the best choice for those giving hammocks a serious try without wanting to drop the cash on a Clark.

I’ve never used a Hennessey. I don't like the bottom entry/exit idea.
