Spent the "End Of Summer" in gun-friendly San Francisco...

Sweet pictures. Did you stop in at We Be Knives at Pier 39 ? I think they're one of the few knife shops in San Francisco. Very small shop.

when i was in SF tony took me to lunch where feinstein happened to be dining, i could clearly see her carry piece imprinting under her blouse. question... how come she was carrying but doesn't want tony to carry?

I've heard stories she had two carry permits and made a big show out of turning in "one" of them. Sounds like they may be true. I recall people commenting on her armed guards standing nearby when she makes public appearances. Poor Dianne hurt her ankle recently and won't be at the convention this week. That should actually help their campaign. :D

We walked past it. It was immediately to the right of a unique store for left-handed people. Our daughter is left-handed, so we stopped there. I figured that the We Be Knives was the typical cutlery shop one finds in malls, so I didn't go in.

as promised, pics of we be knives...and Carmel Cutlery in Carmel

well my left-wing hippie notions of California have been shattered! Not only did i find gun magazines for sale in their airport (!!!!) they have some good knife stores in the most unbelievable places!

I posted my review of my visit to TAD in another thread...I'll cover two other stores here.

First up, Carmel Cutlery. This store is located in snooty Carmel, right next to art galleries, high end restaurants and a famous watch store (Chatel) that i also visited!

here's an idea of the neighbourhood

and the store front

The previous owner was a famous knifemaker...he appears in David Darom's famous book about high-end art knives...not many customs in the store now but a good selection of spyderco, buck, kershaw etc.

I was pleasantly surprised to see damascus pattern ceramic...the treatment is not just cosmetic...it is said to improve performance...I ended up buying a Santuko

Next up, We Be Knives...it is UNBELIEVABLE that a knife store such as this is set up at Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco...this is the centre of tourism! Look at the surroundings!

Here's the storefront

And inside...Chris Reeve, Masters of Defense, Emerson, Spyderco, Kershaw, Bucketc...push daggers, balisongs...you name it!

and here was the coolest knife of the day...an out the front ASSISTED opener by Schrade! that's right...assisted, not auto so it is legal in California...and only $65! I played with it and hope they will be available in Canada..here's a pic

Thats' funny. I don't doubt it though...I e-mailed her, asking her why she carried but was so against it for all the "subjects" and she wrote back saying she had given up her permits and no longer carried a gun. This was about 3 years ago. Tony can probably have a gun because he does not live in public housing. As for carry, well, what they don't know....well, nevermind.
