Spider ID wanted

It is a golden silk spider
Nephila clavipes

Nephila Clavipes is correct. This spider seems to have 20 different names; golden silk spider, golden silk orb weaver, golden orb weaver, silk spider, banana spider, nasty, etc.

The spiders posted above with the football shaped fat ass seem to be something else.

You didn't actually read the rest of this thread, did you? No you didn't.

*popping nose* Bad wulfy. Bad!

heh, i love spiders and spyders=P. For wilderness guys, you sure are scared of wildlife=P. But then again I like alomst all things living:P

Cool post! You wouldn't happen to find these critters near a nuclear reactor, would you? That maggotty looking wood grub thing is huuuuuuge!

After reading all this, I'm taking a flashlight and doing a sweep of my sleeping quarters. I'm officially freaked out. I'll take my bug killing bitter cold winters over that any day!

Those are cool looking spiders.. I like spiders. I hate any type of worm or caterpillar or larvae:barf:. They gross me out!

Where I lived as a kid, up in Royston, GA there has always been a very serious scorpion problem.
Once when I was camping in our back field, I woke up with a scorpion on my face. Bastard nailed me before I could get it. Us GA boys have some serious critters to contend with. We get used to 'em though.

Did somebody say scorpion? Found this one (and many others) in my house

Joe was very lonely at this point in his life. He was looking for love and he didn't consider species differences to be a factor.

EL OH EL !!!

Ok guys , call me girlyman but you really have no idea how loud I would scream and how fast I would run if I ran into one of those !
I lived in fort Lauderdale for about 6 months and didnt see anything that big , which is good because I woulda freaked the frak out !

Here we get mostly Black widows and big 'ol field spiders , both of which are KOS for me. Recluse are starting to become a problem too... Hell , kill em all and let God sort 'em out , I have no love for arachnids.

:)
