This is spike hawk is a historical representation of an 18th century weapon. Based on several different examples..All with a sleek fast head and long spike. Many spike hawk of the late 17th and 18th centurys I have seen are of a very similar design..
The hawk is forged from a bar of 1045. The cheeks were split and a piece of L-6 was welded in for the cutting bit..Very sharp, hair popp'n sharp. The spike is also heat treated..The cutting edge is appx 2 3/4" wide and the entire head is appx 10 1/8" long including the spike..Etched to a nice patina, filework on the spine..
The haft is nice curly maple. Stained with aqua fortis and hand rubbed with boiled linseed oil. The haft has been shaped on the head and butt to match some historical decorations I have seen..
The sheath is 9oz leather, hand sewn with a button snap.
We are asking $**SOLD**Shipped priority with conformation.
Our paypal address is phllpwest@bellsouth.net

First off, this is beautiful! Great work!

Couple questions.....

Would this stand up to many throws? Trying to become a better knife thrower and have gotten interested in tomahawk throwers.

Thanks :thumbup:The hawk would stand up to most anything being 1045 with an L-6 bit.Throwing wouldent be an issue at all.Curly maple does not stand up real well to throwing to be honest though..It has somewhat of a cross section where the curls are..It may stand up to it and it may not..A straight grain handle is best for throwing..they are cheap though..$4-$5 most places..

If I didn't just pay out $500 for an accident deductible, I'd snap this up.

BTW....just received my hawk yesterday from Kentucky/Wolf Creek Forge and I can attest to the high quality and workmanship....and historical authenticity of their work.

This should go quick!
