Here's one for the tradionalists. Hand forged and filed the old way. 1060 steel differentially heat treated.
Handmade curly maple handle. Stained and finished with homemade oil varnish and aqua fortis.
Entire piece tastefully aged to simulate years gone by.
O.A.L. of head: 8 1/4 in.
Blade width: 2 1/2 in.
Handle length: 19 1/4.

GregS, it's hard to see in this Picture; but about half way between the blade and the handle are the initials.. SW .., that is the mark.

Most folks have no idea how much works goes into making a nice "traditional" hawk like this one.
 
2 quick questions. does it have any kind of sheath or carry system? would you be hesitant to use it around camp or is it mostly a show piece?

This one does not come with a sheath. It is made and heated treated for use,I would not be hesitant to use it in camp.
 
Stu's hawks are the real deal in traditional style hawks,he puts a great deal of time and attention to detail,so a bump for Stuart:thumbup:Regards Butch
