I just got mine yesterday from NGK, after waiting for the whole week. Well, it took that long, because I live overseas.
Anyway, back to the knife itself.
First Impression - It is a very light knife, but it also feel solid in the hand. It is a bit heavier than the Ladybug. The look of it is sheeple friendlier than Ladybug, I suppose. It look more rounded, so it can perceived as a cool gadget instead of knife. The Blade is a bit thinker than the blade on Ladybug (0.5 mm thicker). However, this knife is full flat ground and it is taper from the top, where the spyder hole is, to the tip of the blade. That makes the blade on the sharp edge very thin. The knife blade is very thin at the edge, so I think it would be a very good slicer.
Fit and Finish - WHen folded, the blade is right in the middle. The lock up is solid, however, I do not like the lock to go down more than 50% of blade thinkness, which make them almost touching the other side of scale. The Scale on both side has a controled metal pattern in the verticle. I like it, because it make the knife a bit more grippy. The lock of the framelock is laser cut ( I think it is a laser cut, since the space between the lock and the scale is very thin). The lock is solid enough but the strength required to release is light. So this maybe a good point for ladies who use this knife. The edge of the scale also rounded, which make it very comformable in the hand. This knife is a very well thought of details.
Handling - This knife is designed to handle with 2 fingers only. Holding the knife in the hand with 2 fingers is secure enough for most of the tasks. However, for me, I just do not like to leave the remaining fingers hanging. So I put in the string to the landyard. It does help a lot in the handling, in both opening & Closing and during the usage.
Cutting Perofrmance - I have not try this knife to cut many things yet. But it is sure shaving sharp out of the box, standard Spyderco sharpness. Put some pressure on cutting think cardboard is also piece of cake. The handling is good, the blade glide through like butter.
I really like this knife a lot. It will be my EDC for office environment. I have the feeling that it is not as tough as other small knife I owned (Benchmade Benchmite II). But it is definitely a very cool knife to use around the office and city environment. I think it is even look less treathen than a ladybug, because of the round body and Vanclif blade.
