Just letting you guys know, just in case. Wednesday the 4th April, I am getting the permanent Spinal Cord Stimulator Implant. The trial worked great. So now they're gonna fully implant the wires and the battery. Its two wires about 12"-15" with 12 tiny electric connections on the each of the ends that lay up against the spinal cord a few inches below my shoulder blades, they connect to a 10 year rechargeable battery about the size of a Tictac box. The battery is gonna be put in the meat above my beltline on the left side of my back. I run it with a remote about the size of a computer mouse. It hides the pain in the lower body with shock stimulation. It's a miracle from St Jude Medical Center. I'm having the procedure at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. I've got the wires and battery pack that I used during the trial. I'll put up a pic in a week or so, I hope. It's an overnight thing but no big deal. I cant wait though. I been off my legs cept for about 15-30 min a day for almost 5 years, and havn't been able to sit upright either. It's amazing what a man can do laying down or kneeling. I cant wait to get out there and start living.
Retired from the Army in 2007 after doin 25 years, havent been able to get out there and really check out this democracy yet. And please don't thank me. Listening to you guys talk about your daily lives and doing the things that you do are thanks enough. I'm glad everyone is out here living in America the way they're supposed to. Not in fear. HI has been the best thing that has happened for me. If it wasn't for getting hurt, I would have never found you or been on the internet probably. And just listening to and lookin at you guys has helped tremendously.
I wish everyone out there with lower back thru legs to feet pain could get this. I had to go thru 4 surgeries on my legs and back, one on each arm, probably more than 30 steroid injections, (and enough drugs to make a drug dealer a millionaire) in the past 7 years to get this.
Anyways, I got a trunk full of Khukuris that havn't had a proper woopin, or gave me a proper woopin. We'll be talkin about em for a long time.
Your friend,
Lee

Great to hear Lee, best of luck with the implant. Amazing how far medicine has progressed these days.

Lee, I'm very happy for you.

I don't feel your pain, but I do feel pain. Bigtime.

I've had 6 surgeries and my lumbar region continues to deteriorate.

Scheduled for #7 on Wednesday.

You'll be in my thoughts.

Oh, and lest you think yourself 'gimpy' from your disability, just remember that guy's like us could still be a formidable force on the battlefield.

Assuming they could put Hemi's on wheelchairs. And perhaps a Barrett M82A1 turret along with a kukri sheath or two.

Lee,
A buddy had this procedure recently, and has hugely positive results. Good luck, hang in there!

Smoke, Prayer and Positive thoughts headed your way for a successful surgery and gentle healing!

Lee, smoke and prayers up from the Central Coast! Hope this operation is a huge success.

Good luck to you. I hope that this procedure gets you back on your feet in no time!

While I don't know, being new to the forum. I can understand where you're coming from. I had a cousin who went through more back surgeries decades ago and really never lived a moment of his life without intense pain. I am hopeful that this will return you to a more normal life. Speedy recovery to you.

Do well.

Nice work, so far. Hard to keep your chin up with that chronic condition.

Don't know about the service years, but in this, I think you are heroic.

:)

I wish you the best of luck, dude. Peace, and may the odds ever be in your favor.

Hey Lee,

Sorry you have been in a lot of pain and horizontal for about five years 1st Sargent. But happy you are getting better and my prayer is for a successful operation.

Even thought I am ex-Navy (D&S Piers Norfolk, VA USS Bluefish SSN 675) I still like you :D.

Get better soon .

disrepair is where i'm at
sliding in to end the race
beaten battered tired sore
unused would be the real disgrace

Heal up quick, get up and enjoy life. You've earned it!

Thank you to all. Procedure was fantastic! Implant is working perfect, can block every feeling from below my ribs thru the tips of my toes. Just have to get used to it. Too high of a setting and I cant feel my legs at all and fall right over. It's the craziest feeling ever! Like a million Butterflies with jackhammers inside my body, pounding furiously at any pain they find. Hope to be up and about n a few weeks after back heals. Will post pics soon.
